Repair before trade in?

Hi. I have a friend who wants to trade in his 02 TL for the 04. Everything is in excellent condition except for a small bend on the driver's side door edge. Should he fix it before going to the dealer? How about scratches? Anyone know how dealers "rate" the trade in value? Thanks.

No. When they appraise the car, they will see paint and body work was done on the door and subtract for it no matter what. So since it isn't factory, he will lose money either way.
