repainting driver side door

repainting driver side door
My car is about 4 months old and inspite of being very very careful I have about 5-6 dings and a big scratch on my driver side door and into the chrome handle and about 2 dings on the rear passenger side door. My insurance deductible is $240 so I'm wondering if I can claim this through insurance as it is going to be quite expensive. Any ideas?
Also, the guy I took it to says that I have to definitely get the driver door repainted I would like to hear from anyone here who has got any part of their TL repainted and what problems could arise from repainting the door.

Technically, each ding is a separate incident as far as the insurance company is concerned and a deductible applies to each incident. However, if any one of the incidents requires the door to be repainted, they should only get one deductible. The dings will probably be considered "collision" losses, while the scratch (if it look like vandalism) may be consided a "comprehensive" loss. Try for the loss with the lower deductible. The insurance company may just agree with you! Good luck!
