Definetely sounds more aggressive. So with my K&N air filter and removed resonator, do you think i can get a +5HP? to make my TL a 230HP TL-P?

i dont think there would be any problem because the filter would catch it, as for water the airbox sits too high for water to get in and plus you have under body plastic coverings. if water gets that high you would be in a flood.

Is there a reason you asked here and also started a separate thread about this?

Ok, I tried removing the resonator last friday, but I had trouble getting to the second bolt, I didnt even know where it was! So I took my bumper off and put it back on with a failed attempt to remove it, can someone post a pics of where the second bolt is? The bolt closest to the front is easy to see and remove, but I can seem to get the second one off. I have a 02 TL-P.

Yes. The upper part of the tubes seem to be stuck on something. I have no idea where the bolt was.

How are you going to take that off? It's connected to the throttle body?! Or do you mean the thing hanging below the tube?

FWIW, the entire intake assembly weighs ~15lb (give or take .2 lb due to the scale) In comparison, the AEM V2 weighs in at a whopping ~6lbs (w/ filter).

Just removed the lower intake resonator; I did the no-bumper removal method and it took about 25 mins from start to finish (and I am a total noob to cars). I does sound better. I think I might have to try and remove the upper resonator between the TB and the air box... lets seem what this HUMMM is all about.

Thanks for the easy DIYs.

I can't get to that bolt that I circled without the bumper off because there is such little room behind the bumper and I can't see what I'm doing.

I used this method and can't get to the bolt.

Any suggestions, or should I buy a clip tool from Autozone and take off the bumper or break the clips and buy new ones since i already broke a couple?? Good thing it's a two piece intake, because I am able to run it as short ram until I figure this out.

wow this is intense. So let me ask this. I recently installed a stock replacement K&N air filter. Gave me tons of throttle responce and restored hp only cause the stock filter was so loaded with junk i cant believe the car ran. anyway. all this said and done i have a low hummmmm as the car sits in idle that ive never hear be4. is that from the new filter?

This is normal when you remove the resonator. I got very fed up with it and got an INJEN CAI to eliminate it.

I know its 4 months to late, but with the TL-p its MUCH easier to remove the bumper. OUr resonator is much larger than the type-s

I removed the resonator, but I have a question. There is still something hanging from the intake. Do I remove this as well?

the piece between the filter and TB can be removed but you have to plug the hole with a hockey puck or a pvc pipe end cap

That piece is hanging from the air filter and the resonator I removed was hanging from that, it's not coming from the TB or the intake line. I have a Type-S I don't have the 2nd resonator.

So I should just leave in the piece in the picture I posted? Or is it part of the first resonator and should be removed also?

Can you just yank down that extra piece in my pic? It doesn't seem to really be attached to anything.

It's not attached to anything anymore. You won't damage the airbox. I think I removed mine by taking the air filter out and pushing down on it.

I took a couple pics when I removed mine to show the location of the bolts better. I don't have a splash guard in that wheel well so mine was pretty easy to get to, didn't even have to jack up the car or get underneath.

I just removed mine with the help of S1cktypeS, and holy crap I love it! I don't have any of the harsh idle or annoying hum that some of you have. It just sounds beast, but not overly loud. We didn't take the bumper off, but we basically took 1/2 of it off. It would've been much easier if we just took off the bumper (I have a TL-P), and it probably would've taken just as much time if not less.
