Post Remembering the Legend

So, I'm the owner of a '01TL and the former owner of two Legends (91,94 coupe). I'm curious to know how many others on here are former Legend owners, and if you agree that Acura missed the opportunity to continue the legacy of that car in the TL or the RL. Or, just tell us what you miss about your Legends.

Yep, I originally had a 92 Legend. Great car, although the A/C in mine couldn't keep the car cool in the summer. (Black on black, LS Sedan) But, in my opinion, the Legend seemed to handle a little better. Too bad Acura didn't keep the name.

Got one, a '94 LS Coupe with the 230HP Type II. I dreamed about that car for years before I could finally afford one. I have had it for 9 months and already put 24k miles on it !!!! I love all the features that it packs for being such an old car (7 years this year). Telescoping steering wheel, Roll down back windows in the coupe, self-sealing doors, climate control, heated seats....etc. The Legend is Acura's trump card. When the Lex folks were arguing about reliability I HAD to remind them about this car. It also has timless style. Long live the Legend! I hope they bring back the name and a v8 to follow it!

Found www.honda.co.uk or some UK Honda sight and they showed the current Legend. Sure it's our same RL, but it looked nice with the Legend badging, too bad we have to go to bland letters here in this superficial country and have to play the MB/dyslexus/BMW letter designation game. But the 90 vintage sedan and coupe were the slickest Legends.. there is a used dealer on our road that has a different Legend up on ramps on sale every week.. they're EVERYWHERE in this part of town.

F=ma, you've seen that many round the airport eh ??

I just got the 01 TL and my friend said, "Oh, you got a Legend."

I think they should have held onto the name. But Acura thinks that letters are more Lexus like. More prestigious. That's the market they are going for.

Thumbs up

I had a 90 Legend back in the day. I loved it. I just hope that my TL doesn't fall apart like the Legend did. I know that was early in Acura's years, but that car went to sh__ in year 5.

I had an 88 Legend coupe LS (see my picture link).

The lost love for that car was a big reason I bought the TL.

Unhappy

i also dearly miss the departed late acura legend, the car is truly a legend in its own right, back in may before i graduated from college, i searched high n low for a 94-95 legend, preferably the 230hp GS model, but when i did find one it had over 100k, and the conditionof the car was horrible....around here the road is still littered with second generation legends, the big body, i call it..too many people do not take care of their cars and are so eager to step up now that the car has aged a little, if i could do it over, i would get a legend

By looking at the clip...it seems to me that IS has a very good, and rigid cabin frame.

The use of letters as opposed to car names is not to look more luxurious, but instead to promote better name recall.

That way, every car under the marque has the brand name as part of the name, and people will recall the maker of the car. It's a marketing ploy.

I traded in my '94 coupe for a '01 TL and I have no regrets, but I think Acura screwed us with the seats in the TL. Very piss poor and they did not improve them in three years.

Still have the 91 4dr legend in the family although it's been passed down to my little brother and sister who got hit in the highschool parking lot. It's a shame to see that beautiful car with a smashed up back side.

Is it just mine or did everybody's legends shift really hard?

It's a marketing ploy that never worked for me. I think the "TL", "RL" and "CL" names border on being generic and bland. For me, "Legend" is a much more recognizable name. And I think "Inspire" would have been a better choice for the US market.

This thread is old, and more appropriate for our car talk forum than the 2nd gen forum.
