RED SRS light (again). TSB/Recall & Warranty

10/22 the red SRS light illuminated... dealer said it was a faulty code received from the passenger side, and reset it. (I had had a rare passenger in the car the day before). 3 weeks later, same thing - a rare passenger in my car, and the light goes on. Seems to me like the sensor is faulty.

Now there are TSB's on this:
Service Bulletin Number: 01013,
Bulletin Sequence Number: 198,
Date of Bulletin: 0103,
NHTSA Item Number: SB619881,
Component: INTERIOR SYSTEMS:PASSIVE RESTRAINT:AIR BAG IMPACT SENSOR,
Summary: A CONDITION MAY EXIST WHERE THE SRS INDICATOR IS ON AND DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE 15-3 (FAULTY OPDS SENSOR) IS SET. *TT

Service Bulletin Number: 00033,
Bulletin Sequence Number: 155,
Date of Bulletin: 0011,
NHTSA Item Number: SB615580,
Component: INTERIOR SYSTEMS:PASSIVE RESTRAINTS,
Summary: SOME 2000 3.2TL AND 2001 3.2CL MODEL VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT THE SRS LIGHT ON WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE 15-1 (FAULTY OCCUPANT POSITION DETECTION SYSTEM UNIT) STORED. *TT

My ride is over 50k, and the dealer was trying to make me feel like they were doing me a big favor by resetting it for free. If needed, shouldn't they replace the sensor for free anyway? It's even got an NHTSA number assigned to the recall.

Can't get a straight answer. Thanks for the help.

Do you know if there are any other TSB's out there?

Has anyone actually paid for the bullentin? How much does each one cost? I guess I can show it to Acura and they can order it... or they may have it already.

I remembered when I brought up the bulletins before and they said it only applied to US cars. That shouldn't be the case as all of them come out of the same factory. Stupid, huh! I will stand my ground or go elsewhere.

I assume you're going to Motorcars Acura? When my light was on, they reset it and it didn't work (came on a day later). I went back and they replaced the driver's seat side airbag module. But this is what pissed me off -- they admonished me to not get water into that module as that was what happened. Yeah, right. Water didn't touch the interior of my car!

It hasn't come on in a few months so maybe it's fixed.

My red SRS light just came on for the first time. I know how to reset it but if it is just going to come on again, I think they should fix it. I have an appointment for this tuesday. I am bringing this post to show them. I'll let you know what they find.

just found this in a search:

This forum is great. I didn't think about that. I put in my TLS gauges last week and my RED SRS light came on today. Even though it is a week later that may be the cause. I am going to reset it and then see if it comes back.

Hi,
My 03 TL-S had SRS light came on about 2 weeks ago. Bring the car to the dealer and they change the sensor and padding of the passenger seat, all for free since my car is only 7000MI. If you still have warranty, just bring to the dealer and they will fix it.

Take care,
LV

The salesman i bought my car from told me about the srs light problem (before I bought it) and said if you put your cell phone on the passenger seat it interferes with signals?? dont know if that is true or not, only had the car for a week and everything seems to be fine.
