Recommendation/Suggestions - Paint Nicks...

OK... Here is the my question, hopefully some of you have some good suggestions on how to prevent this. I noticed paint scratches and nicks on the skirt below the drivers door. I am guessing that when I enter the car my shoes hit the skirt and made some paint nicks. They can easily be buffed out and removed but boy what a hassle. Are there any preventive solutions out there such as clear tape or something else that can be used to protect the paint on the skirt? Something that is not very visible but is still effective.
I am trying to be careful to not hit the skirt when I enter the car but the problem is that my wife sometimes uses the car and probably does not take as much caution as I do to not hit the paint with her shoes.
So let's hear what you guys have done to aviod this problem.
Thanks again for everyone's valuable recommendations.

Depending on exactly where your talking about, they can install the Clear Bra type material over the "skirt" area to protect your car. It's almost invisible but very strong stuff. Do a search on the subject, even though it's about the front parts of vehicles. Good luck.
