Recomendations for Cleaning Cigarette Lighter Port

To be honest this question isn't regarding my beloved TL, but rather for my wife's Accord. She can't get her cell phone charger to work using the cigarette lighter port. After initial inspection, it looks like it's just super corroded in there. Just to rule out a blown fuze I checked it with a volt meter and it's showing that it's getting juice, but I had to scratch through the gunk to make a connection with the contacts. I'm planing on going at it with my cordless drill and a wire brush bit, but I wanted to see if anyone had any better ideas first. (and yes, I'm going to turn the car off first before I fry myself)
