Recently switched to Rain-X washer fluid, but need more

I switched to Rain-X washer fluid and have been nothing but happy with the results. However I find that the stock wipers are a total POS. Can they streak anymore? I was wondering which wiper blades are better?

I have read that Siliblade makes an awesome blade, but have heard they don't work well with Rain-X? Something about the Rain X eating through the blades???

anyways, what about PIAA blades, any good?

what do you guys recommend? I need an awesome blade that will last long, be able to take the abuse of harsh winters, and work well with rain-x.

thanks

I got the Silblade wipers last summer, and now they are streaking badly. Anyways, I have the PIAA wipers for my Odyssey, and it seems to be holding up pretty good so far for the past 3 months. I recommend PIAA over Silblades.

i bought sillblades 3 weeks ago, and i think that they are overrated. i was expecting squeegee clean but they leave some light water residue over the whole area where the blade goes over.

not too satisfied with my purchase.

Mine use to be sqeegee clean, but lately mine has been soo dirty from lack of maintenace that it only gets squeegee clean if I'f it gets wet enough from constant rain. If you get light mist or a splash from another car and only want to wipe your windows once or twice, then your out of luck.

Sillblades may be a bit overrated, but they do perform better than stock. Now here's the irony...I would probably not buy another sillblade again, simply because I want to try other brands.

I am convinced however that no matter what brand I buy, it would NOT be made of rubber. Rubber with teflon may be an upgrade, but over time the rubber will still crack. For me it's silicone all the way.

Same here... have them for several months now. They are better than stock, though. Frankly, I don't know how well they should perform – maybe that’s the maximum any wipers are capable of. Anybody who has wipers he/she is absolutely happy with? What are the realistic expectations for good, expensive ($30 and up) wipers?

me too. but 1 thing i did notice is that the right edge of my passenger side wiper doesn't make contact with the windshield. wipes the whole intended area going down, but it misses a bit on the wipe up. doesn't seem to wrap around the curve of the windshield that well. not sure what i'll try next. i can't justify spending that insane amount on PIAAs and i'll only order Silblades if the exchange rate gets even better cuz with the shipping charges, they equal roughly 6 pairs of OEM blades. i'd rather have a new set of wipers every year.

I bought PIAA blades from Weathertech Canada a couple of weeks ago. $30 for the 18" and $40 for the 20". Very easy installation. I'm having a problem in that a small area right in front of the passenger is not clearing well. It's OK if there is a lot of moisture but as you know, in the Toronto area we have had messy roads for about 3 weeks now. Anyhow, the wiper blades seem fine although the Teflon blades I put on my last car worked very well too. We'll see how the PIAA hold up in the long run.

Where are you buying the Rain-X washer? Crappy tire???

Best bet-

1. Rain-X the windshield. No cheater wash stuff. Get out there and put your pansy arm into it. Expect to do this 1x/month.
2. Buy replacements periodically. The pollutants in the air (smog, etc) combined with sunlight eat at the rubber blade, and no amount of money will prevent this. You can determine the period when they stop doing what you want.

I end up replacing my blades about 1x/year, with the $5 Anco (or whatever is in the yellow pack at Autozone). If I wanted perfect results, then they'd probably go sooner. When I notice any streaking that begins to obstruct my view, then they're right off.

that's probably what i'll do. buy cheapy $5 blades and replace em every 6 months or so. i can live with spending 10 bucks/year vs $50+ and finding out that after a few months they're streaking.

Thumbs up PIAA All The Way

I went to www.mats.com and bought the PIAA blades. The first heavy rain (during a trip to N. Carolina) made me a little unsure about my decision. I collected a lot of grime from the road and the new blades left a heavy black residue on the drives far left side. Since then, I haven't had any problems. It is nice to not have to use the blades as often during a light to moderate rain shower. D.C. is a dirty place to drive due to the influx of 3 million people commuting in and out of the D.C. metro area on a daily basis.

Quick question: How can we get the PIAA's on this website for puchase?

Talking By the way...

...Has anyone noticed how the woman on the ads for Weathertech has changed her look from mom to hot mom in the past couple of years?

I subscribe to Autoweek, and I have noticed this change...I have just proved that I have no life:smackhead

I'm using Rain-X wiper blades and I'm very happy with them I think for about a month and a half. Also I use rain-x on the windshield and now I'm using rain-x washer fluid, all that combination is a killer, good clean wipes. Will see how long the blades last but so far I'm very happy.
