Rebuilt 3.5 tl-aspec with 6-speed or buy a cl-s 6mt

dilemma dilemma....
First off i have to explain i own 2 cars: 03 ABP TL-A Spec and a 99 Accord coupe. the TL is my summer car and the Accord is my daily driver to work and back. I drive out on gravel roads daily so the Accord obviously doesn't get the same love as the TL.

as some of you know my block in the TL is toast and needs to be rebuilt and so InspireTL convinced me i should lean towards a 3.5 build and i've always wanted to covert it to a 6 speed. but i was talking to a buddy of mine yesturday that is a sales man at our local BMW dealership and he says he has a ABP CL-S 6MT comming in as a trade in and obviously the trade is is going to be really undervalued and i'd be getting it at whatever they low ball him for it.

should i bother buying the CL-S MT since i'd be getting a heck of a deal for it?
forget about the cl and source the parts for a new block and transmission?
should i buy it and convert the TL to a 6speed along with a 3.5 rebuild? should i buy it and swap over the engine and the 6MT and buy a cheap block for the cl and resell.
Should i sell off the accord and keep both cl and rebuild the TL? or vice versa
should i fix up the A-Spec and sell that adn transfer all my blood and sweet (navi coversion/custom stereo/just about every mod except a HOPE IC) into cl? there's obviously many more options but i'd like to see what anyone here would do.. i can't make up my mind since i put soo much time and love in to the TL.....

I say CL-S. Tranny swaps aren't worth it, IMHO.

That's a tough one... I'd say since the TL and CL-S are both the same color and you're stuck with a non-running TL you had better get that fixed up before you drop more money in on the CL-S too. It seems kind of wrong to take a perfectly good CL-S6 and strip it down.

By TL-S A-Spec do you mean the Canadian version? If so, then I'd keep both and get rid of the Accord.

I would sell the Accord, fix the TL and sell it, and keep the CL-6mt

Taffeta, he's not planning to strip the cl, he wants to keep it as his driver from the way he's saying it. his intention is to either 1. keep the CL-S6 and drive it or 2. source parts from possibly a wrecked 6-speed and find a 3.5 motor to do the build.

and to PrincelyBug, I think the swap is worth it. it's not as expensive as you think it is, I love my 03 TL-S6, and you're not going to find very many anywhere in the country. You'll have one of the most acuras ever fabricated .

Personally, i like the shape of the TL better... and i would love to harness the power of a J35, so i'd say get the J35 and find the 6-speed and swap that son of a gun!

If you are one of the 800 lucky canadian owners to have an A-Spec TL you bloody better rebuild it and keep her on the road. Hell If I had an A-Spec and I was in your position you bet it would be rebuilt with the 6 speed. I constantly have people ask me if my car is stick and every single time I tell them it's auto it hurts (I defend myself saying auto was the only tranny offered). I would love if they had offered a 6 speed in the 02-03 type-s, I don't understand why one wasn't offered because the cl type-s had one

I'd say sell the accord for sure, buy the cl type-s, daily drive that and as quickly as you can afford it, rebuild the TL.

the TL gots to get fixed regardless i know that but i dunno if it's, worth like you said "It seems kind of wrong to take a perfectly good CL-S6 and strip it down" and yeah i got the Canadian A-Spec. if i sell the accord i can't bare to take either the TL or the CL on these gravel roads! so ones gotta go or atleast gots to be a "beater" maybe do a tranny swap adn make the CL a beater

Well the A-Spec is a hell of a lot more rare than a CL-S6, but either way I don't think it'd be right to essentially tear down a working CL-S6, even if it means in the long run sacrificing more money out of pocket to keep the CL-S6 and the A-Spec working again.

They are MORE than worth it. The car drives better, handles better and is faster! Plus there is NO worry of the trans issue with the manual!

I say buy the cl and sell it to one of us for that good deal

or sell the accord and keep the cl and tl. Rebuilds may be hard work but totally pay off and having a canadian aspec 6speed with a 3.5 and a rare cl-s6 would make you the coolest guy ever. haha

If it weren't for the gravel you have to drive over every day, I'd keep the cl-s, sell the Accord and use the money to get the j35 and 6mt and rebuild the tl.
Considering the gravel then, I'd stick with the accord, get the cl-s and sell it privately, make a llittle money on the sale and get the j35 and another 6mt and do the rebuild.
I don't think I'd have the heart to tear apart a perfectly good cl-s...
