cool, really nice to see the wear and props for alot of pics. I wonder how long this tranny will hold up since you just re built it to factory specs do you expect it to fail again?

Forgot to mention, this is not my tranny nor am I the one who took the pics, which seem to have been taken in '09, but of a 2000 TL tranny.

Unfortunately I'm unable to give credit to the particular site hosting the content due to Acurazine forum rules.

Would you like to see Kim Smith's Acura 3.2 TL transmission?

Of course you would!

The H5 is Honda's first 5-speed automatic transmission. Applications:
Interesting info since I have an '02 yet my tranny sticker is M7WA (supposedly from a 2000 TL). Think I'm gonna have to do a VIN check.

Actually Wikipedia does have the potential to be "wrong", as it's a resource where information is contributed by sole individuals. However, in this case, the information seems to be correct.

In the "Chassis & Paint Codes" section of the service manual, the '01 through '03 models are listed with B7WA as the transmission code, while the '00, M7WA.

I have found a post on here where someone said that the "M" simply means it was manufactured in Japan and "B" means, the USA. People receiving new trannies from the dealer might have either trans code.

However, what this does mean is that my tranny is not original, since my car is an '02. Someone had to have dropped a replacement tranny in at one point during its life. So if anybody finds a M7WA tranny in an '01-'03, that's not the original tranny. Can't really say much more than that.

I've got a question:

When looking through the pictures, it looked like the old 3rd clutch piston was reused, although it's kinda hard for me to see. Did you replace the piston or the splined washer that the retainer contacts on the opposite end? Just curious, because I have had literally the exact same thing happen to me in my tranny with the spring and retainer and whatnot! Although I noticed my piston had a bit of scoring in the bottom where the spring contacts, and the splined washer that the retainer and whatnot goes against is also just a little bit scored.
So, I was thinking about just replacing the piston and washer anyway, I just wanted to know how yours looked, and what your thoughts were on it!
