Question Rear window rain solution?

I used to drive a car with a rear wiper and now i am trying to figure a solution for my new TLS. Has anyone used rain-x on the rear window? Does it affect the defroster? Any advice appreciated.

BTW- I LOVE my TL-S!!!

I put RainX on, and it works fantastic. At highway speeds, there is NO water on the window. It's actually eerie. It shouldn't mess with the defrost, but I can't say for sure- I never use it here in FL.

Actually I think rainX would be perfect. Some say that rainX eats up the rubber wipers over time, but since the rears dont come with one, then it should be a perfect solution.

I use Rain-X as well and it works great. When driving in the freeway, I sometime don't have to turn on the wipers and the water just flows up to the top.

Cheers !!!

over time rainX builds a layer of oil on ur windshields that is close to impossible to remove... i loved rainX but after learning that, i stopped using it... its worse on ur front where ur wipers pick up the oil from the rainX and build up

Really? But who cares about the layer, its good for protecting against Rain.. Anyways I guess Rain-X is just like wax and it builts up layers, just like that one guy who uses Wax on his windows..

Really? I've used RainX on all my vehicles. I have two in my driveway, one that I've owned over 8 years ('95 Accord EX), and one nearly 13 ('80 Z28, bought in '90), and I have yet to see any sort of buildup on the window. I think I would have noticed after 13 years.

it builds up on the windows and over time gets a thicker film on ur wipers and wud decrease the lifespan of them... thats what i meant to say... it wud be fine on the side windows and the rear though

I don't notice any sort of oil or film anywhere. If you wax your windshield, though, watch out!

I change my wiper blades about every 3 years (basically, when the rubber seems to dry out). There is one thing that's different about my RainX'd windshield than the average driver- I have a clear view of the road in even the heaviest downpours. I literally cannot be blinded by the rain, and we get some serious downpours here in Orlando. I'd go through wiper blades every three months, if necessary (of course, it's not).

Yeah... me, too.

There's a film that builds up. No big deal but there are times when you actually have to use your wipers, dirty window, etc. That's when the mess starts. :yack: It's OK if you never use your wipers again. I had used rainX on my old Integra GSR and it took a while to undo it all. Won't use it on the TLS.

Are you guys that are getting film applying it correctly? I still use my wipers with the RainX, and I'm just not seeing any film.

If you don't wipe it off correctly when applying, then yeah- oily film.

Zaino all the way

How about Zaino car wash in between doses of Zaino Z2 car polish??? ... Water beads off my front windshield so easily. Even ice won't rub it off! (But I do need to reapply Z2 in the spring, though...)
