Exclamation Rear view mirror problem

Hello all my fellow acuraziners. Well I have this annoying problem, which is my rearview mirror. There was a plastic ring sort of thing in the back part of the mirror that fell off, and now the damn thing wont stay up by itself. It keeps on wiggling down every time I make a lane change or when my base is bumping. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? or where I can get a replacement? and if so how much would it cost? Thanks in advance!!

Do you see the part in the picture below? If so, grab the part number and search for it (or just get it from acuraoemparts.com). Picture is for my '02 TL; don't know which one you have and if it differs mirror-wise.

if your mirror has funny spots on the face or a bubble forms on it-
you need a new mirror assembly immediatly

The old ones have a toxic juice in them that can leak out- dont lick anything that appears to be spilt soda in the car!!!! someone did that and went to the ER

Dealer can get new revised ones without the toxic stuff- list $150 but some with failed mirrors are able to get a deal with parts dept for 50 to 100 plus 30 to install

thank you

Thanks everyone for ur response but with the blue print I dont think i see it cause I do drive a 02 TL-S. The piece im looking for goes right behind the ball joint that allows the mirror to be moved around! or am i just really blind?!

I had this problem too - but in addition to the ring being loose I had a broken tab and without it - the ring won't stay on. Make sure all your tabs are still intact. There should be 3 that encloses the ball pivot. It may help to remove the mirror to get a better look at it. If all the tabs are there - the ring is metal and should have a slit somewhere on it - you can get a thin screwdriver to widen the slit which will open the ring up a bit and try to slip it back onto the tabs.
I ended up buying a new mirror from the dealer. Good luck.
