Rear view mirror

Hey guys I'm just being a worrier but I noticed that my rear view mirror isn't really auto dimming anymore and it's also yellowing at the bottom. Is it gonna explode on me?

50/50 Chance it might explode.

Heres hows mines looked and how i fixed it

I took apart the mirror and just broke the first layer of glass, you wont need it. Although you WILL lose your auto dimming feature.

Itll look like a brand new mirror after

I left out that lexan piece though, i just bought a broadway mirror instead. I suggest buying a convex broadway mirror with the platnium coating. It actually dims peoples lights for you when you look into it.

^^^ what Broadway did you use? I've tried two and they weren't tall enough. I've asked some sellers on eBay but they haven't been much help. Some more details on which you went with would be appreciated. width and what not....

I got this one, yea they're not tall enough for our fat oem mirrors, mines barely went on. Had to get help from a friend to put it on. I got this one.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Broadway-Con...ht_2082wt_1037

Heres how it looks in my car. Nothing i can do about that top part unless i change out the actual mirror but not gonna waste my time on it. Not worth it.

That white piece is covering my hole that i made while taking my mirror off

get rid of it asap, it can ruin your interior permanently. The the new model can be found on ebay for 70-90. I wouldn't get rid of the auto dim, it's a nice feature and the new version is a nice, safe, quality mirror. They should all explode eventually, especially in extreme heat. The crap inside can be toxic as well and I wouldn't touch or inhale it. You can also call Acura(not the dealer)and try to weasel a new one out of them.

He could do that method but i like mines how it is, like i said the broadway mirror actually dims everyone else lights for me so yea. 20 dollars compared to 70-90 to fix the mirror. I think ill go my way. Not to mention the broadway is convex so i can actually see my blindspots and gives me a more broad view of everything from inside to outside of the car.

Its a good deal if it holds up, many of those cheaper quality glass mirrors end up blackening around the edges and they lose a percentage of their reflective quality each year. Some of them crack as well.

If you're talking about the broadway then i think you have it wrong. Mines is a real broadway, wont crack etc. Its not even made of glass lol, i think it performs better then any oem mirror out there. Everytime i get into a car without a broadway im like wtf, why is this mirror so small. Guess im too usesd to my broadway.

They're made of glass, it's just scatter proof so if it cracks it wont go everywhere. I can't speak from experience or anything, just things I've read. Especially vibration problems with decent stereos and being unable to see anything because of it. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree!

^^^ I chill in your avatar's hole(s) 24/7.... er...um.... yeah. Has anyone just tried swapping the mirror to something different? I want a broadway but I can't stand having a portion of the mirror showing.
