with a pair of pliers, use the wire cutter part to break off the exta tabs on each bulb.

So the 1156 bulbs had to be modified? Would the 1157s of fit perfectly for the rear?

i believe the 1157's would fit in the rear, but they would not work since they are dual filament bulbs. the 1156s are single. all u have to do is shave one of the tips off. only way to go about it.

I put Raybrig Stealth 1156s in my '02 rear turn signals and they fit and work perfectly (no trimming needed). They are a single filament, 21W bulb and have the "titanium" coating.

dla208 The thing people like about "titanium" bulbs is that the coating masks the yellow color of the turn signal bulb (no fried egg look in your tail lights). The bulb blinks yellow though.

Yeah just take the nail clipper and clip off one of the stubs of the bulb base. Then it fits and works beutifully! dla208, the reason we get these bulbs is because we dont want the yelowish hue to be seen from the outside through our clear tail lights. IMO there is a reason why they are clear, and with the yellow bulbs, they defeat the purpose of making the tail lights clears.

Thanks for the explanation guys. I think you have a valid point as I was wondering about this yellowish color myself. So, another mod to be made when it gets warmer in NY

Where did you get the Raybrig Stealth? Will it fit the 99? I have Raybrig hyperwhites in my rear turn sigs, but I've been thinking about switching to something a little more "legal".. I hate the fried egg look.

I got'em online, autospeedy.com I think

When you ask if they'll fit a '99, I'm not sure what you mean. Don't '99s have the amber lenses on the tail lights? If your '99 has OEM '02+ tails w/ OEM harness, they'll fit (my '00 has this set up). If you have the pre-'02 harness or Matrix Racing lights, I don't know if they'll fit.
