Rear rotors???

My car vibrates through the floor when I apply my brakes heavily at highway speeds (60+ mph). No vibrations or shimmies through the steering wheel though. Does this mean that my REAR rotors are warped? Below 60 mph I do not hear or feel the vibration at all. Thanks.

Why you suspect rear ones (solid) when front rotors (vented) are likely to cause your steering wheels to vibrate?

The reason I am wondering about the rear rotors is because my steering wheel doesn't shimmy or shake at all. Feels like the vibration comes from the rear.

stock rotors...prob warped...not just rears. when you break and the car vibrates, does your steering wheel vibrate. are your breaks inconsistent (not smooth) when you break at a light or a stop sign?

if aftermarket, then they either suck you you didnt install em right

I believe it's usually the fronts that go out-of-true fastest. Find a shop that you trust enough to inspect them all before resurfacing any. I prefer a shop that turns the rotors right on the car versus sending them out to a machine shop.

TL Brake Problem Woes!!!

I've got an '02 TL w/ 55k miles. 1-1 1/2 yrs ago, when I had 30-35k miles I had the dealer take care of a problem I was having - car would shimmy and shake (could feel it thru the steering wheel too) and they replaced the rotors saying they were experiencing lots of problems w/ "warping rotors".

The brakes have been fine and I haven't had any problems since.......up until a week ago. Now (again) I' experiencing the same problems.

My question to you guys is - what's the likelihood of the dealership redoing my rotors again for no charge?

Also, do I even want to go w/ the Acura rotors again? I'm thinking I should go aftermarket.....and if so what should I go w/ (slotted or drilled.....and what brand)?
I guess I'd do pads @ same time too......which kind of pads?

Thanks for your help.

they will do it free if you ask nicely...if not, then get aftermrkets...SLOTTED ONLY...drills just keep the rotor clean, high chances of cracking, reduced performance (takes away from rotor integrity ~ cooling) but looks good better...slotted+drilled is even worse

brand is up to you...change the pads ~500miles AFTER you've changed rotors (break in period...recommended to bed the pads

glad to help
