Question Rear Lights keep on burning out

Hello,

I have this mystery in my TL'00
The rear break bulbs keep on burning out. I replace one bulb, drive for a day, everything is fine, then the Break Lamp warning goes on, and this time it is a totally different break light bulb that burnt out. I replace that....in other words, I already had to replace all four rear bulbs(break lights), one by one, one after another. So it is not the same bulb thats burn out all the time. WHAT CAN IT BE?!? I'm losing my mind.

I was also wondering, does anyone have this weird thing happening where you see the lights inside the car vaguely flicker for less than a second (once in a while)?

When this happened to me with 3 of my bulbs, I just replaced the rest of them and have not had this problem for almost a year now. Looks like our bulbs burn out in about the same time.

This is most likely being caused by your air conditioner cycling on/off.

thanx for the advice, i replaced all bulbs, everything is fine, except the damn Break Lamp light is still on....its frustrating ;/

yeah the taillight bulbs that came in the earlt tl's were garbage...they actually updated them...in regards to the brake light still being on i've seen some aftermarket buls cause this...did you get em from the dealer?...HTH

No, i bought them at Autozone. The bulbs that burnt out were all stock (Japan made), so lets how American babies hold up lol

Solved my same problem by not touching the glass part when putting them in...only touch the base as oil from your fingers gets on the bulb and overheats it or some nonsense but it worked!

You have never noticed that? I have noticed it on every car I have owned. If you are stopped at a light and your compressor kicks on that puts a sudden load on the engine. As a result the alternator has a small drop in voltage output. You will see your dash board lights dim for a second. Interesting thing on this car is that the HIDs do not dim. My other cars had halogens and the headlights used to dim for a second.

This doesn't happen while cruising because the engine is at a higher rpm when the compressor kicks on.

hmm, I had a Maxima before, with a lot of custom lights on it (interior and exterior), 2x12" woofers sucking power, extra gauges, and it never dimmed.

Thats why i was worried about my TL dimming. Maybe i need to change my battery.

My 2000 Accord 4cyl rpms jumps when I am at a stop light when the AC is on. It's pretty annoying and you can feel it. Doesn't happen when the car is moving. But when I am in my 2003 TL with the AC on at a stop light, I don't really feel the compressor kicking in. Any ideas?

does it stay below 1000 rpms?

read what doopstr said above, that could be a valid reason as well.

Plus, I would assume that TL would be better built than an Accord.
