Rear Door Window Moldings Bubbling..anyone else?

My rear door's window moldings are bubbling/wrinkling up on both sides. It is the black trim that goes along the window. Anyone else have this problem, and what should I do?

yep, same problem. I've talked to the dealer about it, they said i'm better off going to a body shop," it's just a piece of tape". what good are they anyway? i've tried to press out the wrinkles but they always come back. If it gets bad enough, I might fix it.

"it's just a piece of tape." WTF? I noticed that this "tape" around the drivers side had a little white streak, I rubbed it to remove the streak and found that the rubbing caused more white streak to show. Then I realized that the streak was actually a piece of the cheap "tape" that had fallen off. One would think that buying an Acura(supposedly the luxury division of Honda America) you would get a notch above average quality materials, but in reality, you get average, or below average material build/fit and finish. The VTEC Engine is the only thing that is good about the second generation TL. The transmission, fit and finish and everthing else is about the same as a FORD. A comparable priced Lexus IS300, would probably not have these kind of issues like cheap tape around the interior windows, transmission and everything else. :chainsaw: My 03 TLS, will probably be my last Honda product unless Honda goes back to its roots.

i took mine in for it. they pilled the tape off and then painted the area where there was tape. have to take it back because they left all the rubber padding messed up.

Got the same problem here...a small portion of the upper-right corner of my drivers door is lifting a little bit.

Mine too, on the left front door 8 inches above the mirror. There is like 8 ripples about 4mm apart each. It happened all of a sudden, maybe with the first heat of the summer, who knows.

yup--had it replaced x2

Both of my rear windows have been replaced twice!

AND, to top it all off, most dealers cannot do this in-house. They have to schedule for a body shop to "re-tape" it.

I gave up, b/c with the heat of the sun, temperature changes, there's no way they'll get it to stay smooth. :banghead:

We had all the trim around the windows painted gloss black...
Looks pretty good and no more tape...
Also had all the "B" pillar plastic replaced for the clearcoat failing...

All under warranty...

...

I have the same thing happening..I went to the dealership but my car is no longer under warrenty as I have too many miles. The dealership said to take it to a bodyshop as the dealership charges 80 bucks...he looked at me and said that is just for tape...not worth it.....as overtime it will bubble again

SHIFFY, if you call that a problem, then you can call mine a disaster!!!
