Question Rear brake discs

I have about 1700 miles on my TLS. I noticed that both rear discs still don't have the nice smooth silver finish from the brake pads like the fronts do. The finish is dull looking before and after driving. When I first got the car, I figured that after a few miles the pads would scrape a nice even silvery finish on the rotor. I know that the front brakes do most of the stopping, but shouldn't the rear discs have that silver finish by 1700 miles? The car seems to stop okay. Maybe these are very tough rotors and it takes a while for the pads to break it in.

Npt necessarily - in a car with the forward weight bias of the TL, the proportioning valves in the brakes will give a small percentage to the rears. Each make of car is a bit different, so what you might notice on a BMW does not carry over to a Honda.

My car has 4000 miles, and the rotors look just as you describe.

All is well.

I guess this is nothing to worry about. Thanks

Rock:

You might try a couple of panic stops back to back - they will definetly get the rears going. Make sure you are away from everyone else when yu do it!

Another thing to keep those rear brakes performing optimally is to always use the parking brake when you park. The rear brakes have adjusters in them that work when the parking brake is used extending the life of the front pads and allowing for better overall braking
