Question Rear 02' "A" Symbol

Is it possible to replace our Acura symbol with the 2002 acura symbol??? I think this would look much phatter since it is larger and would be more noticeable if the trunk was debadged besides the "A." I think the holes are probably set differently from ours...

Don't think there are any holes for the "A" symbol or any of the letters on the trunk..

Go for it.. I thought about the same if I ever were to debadge, I think it would look phat..

I think it should be the same, unless the mounting holes are wider on the '02 TL's, seeing that the emblem is bigger..

There are no holes - it's all done with adhesive. I don't know how you are going to safely remove it, or what the paint will look like.

I have removed everything but the A on my 2000 and had no problems. I know it sounds kind of weird but i just used a hair dryer and a credit card. Just heat the letters up and just keep wedging the card underneath and it comes off like butter. It works perfect.

The "A" emblem in the middle of the trunk is held in place by some adhesive. There are two pins behind the emblem going into the trunk, if you take the "A" off, you will have two small holes. That's why I left mine on.

That's actually the best thing I've heard yet. Good idea!

The 2002 big A will not fit on the rear without some modification. The "pins" for the big A are much bigger/fatter than the smaller 99/00/01 A. I'm looking at one right now.

You could very easily take some sandpaper and sand down the pins until they fit into the holes. Worse case, you could cut them off and just use the d-face tape.

Thumbs up

I put the '02 emblem on my '99.

I had to buzz the pins off the back of the '02 since they don't line up with the '99 holes.

Also, make sure to leave the little clips in the holes because they have a seal around them to keep water out.

You can position the '02 emblem in just the right place while still covering the '99 holes. Take your time lining it up because once you stick it on, it's on. It won't look too good if it's crooked!

man i wanna do it so bad because that Acura symbol stands out so good... The one we have is very small in comparison... With my trunk debadged now, it looks kind of funny because you can see how small the "A" actually is... Ive still got some homework to do, thanx fellaz...Shyne

P.S. what do you all think if I took the "3.2 TL" badge and bought another one and put it on behind the back passenger door, kind of like the Saber or the Inspire, could look good, i dunno???

Would any of you guys who debadged your trunk like to sell me the "A" and/or the "A-C-U-R-A" lettering? Any year will do. Thanks!

Guy's, try not to use a credit card when you can use tooth floss! Keep the hair dryer idea and go across the badge with a sawing action between the badge and trunk lid. It's even possible to take it off like this without a hair dryer, I did it this way but it would definitely be easier heated up. The floss will break often this way but who care's! I spent $1.39 for this "modification", the best money spent the whole week I had the car. Nothing but the A left, I looove the look

I stand corrected. The badge has no holes (as we all now know).

There's something to add to the mystery 250 improvements
Big A on trunk.
