Is this really true??
First let me say I tried searching and while there are a million topic on rotors there are none that answer this question. Alright lets face it the rotors on our cars SUCK. Mine have probably set a new record for being bad the car feels like an earthquake when breaking at the right speeds. Anyway I was calling around getting estimates on how much resurfacing or instaling new ones cost. While I was on the phone the guy told me if I resurface them or get news im going to have to get new pads also. Is that really true because my pads are fairly new and I dont want to have to replace them yet.

No. That guy is a lying sack.
Ask a dealer how much it is. I think they qouted me at $125 to resurface. Then go call around to see if you can get lower than that.

Why are your pads "fairly new"? Did you replace the pads after your rotors were warped. If so, you wasted your money. What the guy told you is true. When rotors are warped, the pads are ruined. Replace the rotors and the pads.
A warped rotor wobbles. The pads quickly wear to match the warped rotor, i.e., your pads become 'warped'. (That's not the correct term, but you get the idea.) When you put on a new rotor, the warped pads will quickly screw it up. Replace the rotors and the pads. Do not waste money resurfacing the OEM rotors.

it shouldnt be more than $20 each to resurface. Go to a local gas station that can do brakes. I've always had mine done on all my cars for less than 20 a piece.

I bought the car used and basically the owner showed me the reciept all new pads and at the time the rotors werent really warpped. So if thats the case how much is the cheapest 4 new rotors and pads would cost?

You don't need 4 new rotors, just replace the front rotors and pads. Buy them from Excelerate. Yes, you can probably have the front rotors resurfaced (assuming they have not already been resurfaced) but why put new pads on junk OEM rotors even if they are resurfaced?

I don't know for sure in your case since I'm not in NC. I do know vibration through the steering wheel when braking is caused by warped front rotors. Cheap does not equal works well.

Just get the fronts. I had the same problem.and changed fronts and it fixed it. Your back ones don't do much of the breaking that is why people are saying you can just change the fronts. As far as what to get that depends. Brembo blanks are oem and satisfied pro ceramics are a cheap setup you can order off tirerack. If you are willing to spend a little more for some improvement get some slotted rotors. Rotora, powerslot, EBC take your pick..

it's normally recommended to replace pads when replacing rotors. Because the pads that are on now have gotten use to the exisiting rotors, which means they can be angled or lop-sided. So to answer ur question yes it's true change out pads and rotors at the same time. There's always the DIY for changing rotors and and pads. I tried doing it myself as well, but unfortunately i ended up stripping the screws that held the rotor so i just took it to a garage and they did it for 80 dollars.

You should replace your pads. If there is any wear to the rotors at all that would cause the pads to wear uneven at all it will damage your rotors. If you want to do it right dont cheap out. You can get your rotors resurfaced (if there is enough material there) but it will come back that much sooner. Look into a decent set of brakes (like the brembo blanks or rotora) and get yourself s new set of pads
