Question Readiness Codes????

I unplugged the PCM connector B for navi installation. After I plugged back in, I think "readiness codes" are erased. The owner's manual said that "[these codes] are set again only after several days of driving under a variety of conditions." I drove through small streets, highways, any speed from 30-70mph with the total of about 200 miles. After 4 days, when I turn the ignition ON (II), the check engine light still comes on for 20 seconds, and it blinks 5 times and turns off. It stays off while I am driving. The next time I turn the engine on and it goes through the cycle again.

Yes, I know the codes are not set yet. But, anybody knows how long does the "readiness codes" take to set? Did anybody pay attention to this when they disconnect their battery? Thank you.

I've disconnected the battery many times, and I've never had this problem before. I've also had PCM harnesses unplugged for V-AFC II installation before; no such problem.

However, after starting the car for the first time after reconnecting the battery, did you let it go through the idle cycle for about 15 minutes? That might be it. Disconnect the battery again for like half an hour at least to reset the PCM completely, then after reconnecting the battery, start the car and let it idle for about 15 minutes without touching anything. I also did this idle cycle on my brother's '05 TL6 after installing the AEM CAI and didn't have a problem. I do this every time I disconnect the battery for mod installation or whatever.

hmm, cool. Thank you, BloodFart. I'll try it tomorrow. I didn't let the car idle at all. Anybody has different suggestion??

A quick version of the relearning process is described in your owners manual. One of the things you have to do is go at highway speeds for at least 90 seconds while keeping constant pressure on the gas pedal (no pedal movement).

Following those instructions, I can actually get the codes set on the way to work (about a 30 minute drive).
