carfax only knows if your insurance paid a claim

if you pay by check/cash= no insurance~ no record

no record of getting an estimate either!

how bad are the scratches? if you're a bit DIY, you could buff/sand it down and get some perfect match and perfect match clear and fix it yourself for about 20 bucks

Always fix before selling, you will have a higher rate of selling the car than leaving it as is.

whoah wait..... file a claim? You do realize that means it WILL show on carfax right? Paying out of pocket instead is the only way to avoid that.....
