re-applying caliper paint

I did my left side brake calipers a few days ago... Only did left b/c of time constraints... They were so corroded and rusty they really needed it. I used Industrial Rust-Oleum (sail blue) and it looks good, but on the directions it says not recommended for temps over 200 deg. Well, I doubt that will last too long. So, if I re-do the job with high temp paint, will it be necessary to completely remove the existing paint or could I just paint over it? (that would be much easier). If I have to remove the paint first, how is the best way to do that?

i think you could just paint over it, or sand it down a bit then paint it..

id just try to paint over it the existing paint (make sure to clean the paint before tho...) and see..

but if the other paint is rated 200degrees it might come off and make the other paint come off with it..

n e way give it a try and see

hope this helps

i would wait and see, the calipers shouldnt get that hot. the rotors are what get really hot. i have used standard paint from a can before and it lasted the whole time i owned the car. not to mention standard brake fluid boils at a little over 200 deg

The best way to get the old paint off is to use a dremel with a proper head.

thanks all- I'll probably do a little sanding beforehand.
