RATS in my Engine
well, i just spent the weekend without a car because a rat
got into my engine and bit off the knock censor. the bastard
tried to get out when i started the engine and the timing belt
cut him in half.... a pretty nasty sight... the dealer found
him in two pieces and the mechanic wouldn't work on the car
till they had the engine seamed. haha
okay, here's my real question... how much does the dealers
you guys go to charge for labor? i got 216 for the labor fee
and 55 for the cleaning and get this, the damn censor only
costs 4 dollars
but does 216 sound right?

LOL, that reminds me of the time I drove around for about a week with a rat on the bottom of the fan shroud.
When I was using my moms Volvo (just got my license) it started to develope a very foul odor....drove around another day or two untill I decided to take a look. Who would have thought....:yack:, a huge rat had gotten himself killed spending a comfortable evening in my fan shroud
with pieces of him splattered around here and there. I drove to some nasty ass street and found a stick and poked him out.......dam I feel like throwing up now thinking about it again. That sh!t was naaaaaaaaasty!!! Cleaned the crap out of that car right after that, very very thouroghly.
Uh man, I feel sick..:yack: There goes my appetite.....and I just bought dinner too..

i think thats pretty expensive but you should have inquired to how much it would cost b4 you went ahead with it... acura prices for jobs vary also ive gotten three different prices for the same job b4.Talk to the service manager and see if he could cut u a break.

We had a secretary with a new Corvette that came in one morning and begged us to check her car. She said that when she started the car that morning it made an unusual noise and that she thought it looked like hair or feathers had blown out behind her when she took off. We found a partial cat in her radiator fan shroud area. We cleaned it out as best we could and then, of course, denied that we had seen anything unusual...

That is funny, at least it should make you feel better knowing you got the rodent!
Did you know it when you killed it? A picture would have been worth a 1000 words... :p
As far as the money, seems high.

Well if you live in the city this surely can happen.
This same thing happen to my 94 ACCORD back in 1998.
I got in the car that was parked in my back yard one afternoon.
The red parking brake warning light was on after I releasd the hand brake.
I needed to drive that day to pick my nephew up from school.
The light did not go out after I pulled & released the brake agian.
I drove about 1 block & the yellow ABS warning light came on also. I thought I had massive brake failure & was kinda scared to drive. The pedal pressure was fine but I did not go to fast or pull close behind anyone. I had also turned the car off & restarted it to see if they would go out but no go. After I got back home I checked the fluid & it was fine. I always mostly have taken my cars to the dealer for service. I had used the same dealer service for the past 20yrs with my 3 Honda cars. I took it in the next mourning for service . They phoned me about an hour later & said you have some kind of creature living in your car. They had found chicken bones up in the engine compartment. The only thing I could think of was rats. That rat had ate the wires to the brake sensor so it was giving me a false reading. The cost of my repair was $385.00. The same thing happend to a neighbor down the street the rats ate something in her Jetta. The car would not start & the repair cost was over $500.00. Rats like wires & can crawl up in the engine compartment of your cars. Cats can also do the same thing as this happen to my sisters Caravan.
