Random sensor cable hanging after going to mechanic?

Hi All,

My 3.2 TL had been overheating and when I went to look at the engine bay I saw this loose connector and can't figure out what it's for or where it goes? Can anyone provide any idea of where it should go and what it does?

Maybe it's related?

It's the gray thing sticking out next to the hose.

Best guess is a fan motor connector (red)?
Look deep down the side of the A/C cond. fan (purple) there may be a connector end to plug to.

Well don't think it's the fan, but Zeta is on the scent!! Here's my '01 with the fan connection and bundles. Can't see over enough to tell on yours. However, like Zeta said, it you look down along the fan shroud, you should see the small connector that, I believe, goes to the AC clutch. So does your AC work?

That connector looks like if has been off for a while. I hope you cleaned it well (both ends) before reinstalling.

It's the A/C Compressor connector. It won't fix your overheating problem, but you won't have A/C without it.

After reviewing the photo kindly provided and spending an hour with a flashlight I figured it out. The mechanic broke the other end of the connector and that's why I could find it anywhere, found a random green wire tucked away. So this car won't have ac without someone fixing the connector. Overheating issue I realize the gauge doesn't work and no data in the Obd2 read out so they definitely screwed something up. Thanks everyone for helping me out with this mystery.

I spent so many hours looking up YouTube videos and looking up used ac compressors trying to wonder where they moved the cable as I should see a big gray clip. Feel like an idiot now. Time for it to be donated.
