Random DVD Read Errors - Navi
Over the past week I've been getting a NAVI error on screen stating there's a "DVD Read Error - Contact the Dealership" when I first start up for the day. Doesn't always happen, but has only happened on the first start in the morning. Now, it's been a bit colder (for SoCal) with overnight temps in the high 30's, low 40's so that could be a factor. The first time it happened, I stopped and check the door on the player in the trunk and even took the DVD out to check it. Now, this disk hasn't been out since I took a picture of it for another poster some time ago. The disk looked clean. Stuck it back in and got the same error. After a few more tries, it fired up and was fine for the rest of the day.
Next few days were fine. Then one morning, again the DVD read error. This time i just drove off and left it on screen while I ran an errand. When I returned and started up, it booted fine.
The AC functions fine to get to the manual fan and AC controls.
Perhaps I'll take the player out and give the insides a good cleaning. I know the maps are outdated (still have the original disk) but they are still pretty valid given the area where I live. With the DVD read error, I can't see the clock (again, not a calamity).
I did find an old thread on cleaning the unit for a 3rd gen and a few YT vids but they are for newer models. Hopefully, they still apply to the 2g.
Anybody else experience this? If so, did you clean it or send back for repairs.
btw: the thread I found is here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a...errors-873489/

Just over 40F last night and rain. Fired right up. I did blow some compressed air through the slot the other day. Not sure if that took care of it. Meanwhile, I post back if it happens again.
