I thought somebody here raced a jeep cherokee awhile ago and won. The jeeps have a lot of torque off the line, but they can't take a TL because of weight factor, at least not to 100mph.

Post Ran into this dude last nite coming home.........

Going to my friends, I can jump on the verrazano bridge to the goethals bridge to the Turnpike North to rte 3w to 17 north, the distance is approximately 42 miles, and takes 50 minutes. Coming home, I can do the same, or take 17 south to 3 east to the Lincoln Tunnel and go thru the city..I can go to her that way too...but I decided to try going home thru the city..I ended up taking more than an hour, but distance-wise, it's 10 miles shorter...go figure..
Anyways, I get off the Prospect expressway, at the stoplight with a Jeep grand cherokee Limited V-8.. Every time the stoplight changes, he was off, like he was in a rush..I was too tired to deal with that at 4:00 am, also I wasn't sure how the TL would fare against a V8 like that..eventually we are neck and neck at the light. He honks, i'm thinking oh boy, he's gonna start harrassing me or something, but NO! I lower the window down and he asks me if I love the car.. I told him yes, he said he was looking to get one.. I told him to check out our website here..we carried on the talk for a little bit, then he asked me to mash it, so I did, and I came out on top.. Stoplight to stoplight I was superior every time we ran..I even let him get a car length in front of me when he was WOT, i dropped into 2, and cut in front... Not bad... I never thought it would be this good... I told him to check out the site again, and about the TL-S..He said he has a '99 CL and thinks it's aight....if he's somewhere here checking the site out, speak up!

Yeah, that happend to me yesterday while driving to work. I stopped at a light and this ols white F-150 stopped filled with a bunch of teenagers. Suddenly I here the driver yell HEY!!!. So I wind down the window expecting trash talk, but the driver says "Hey thats a nice car." So I reply with a thank you and I went on my way. Pretty weird.

I tell ya, I'm impressed. I'm still in the breakin period (and will be for about a month or more since I don't drive very much), so I haven't really got on the pedal very hard at all, but I can feel that there's more than enough ponies under the hood.

Beating the Grand Cherokee is not a very impressive kill (even with the V-8). I own one. The Jeep is well over 4000 lbs. and not geared for swift accelration. Strap my boat behind it or take it off road then you will be in its element.

A stock TL would lose to a 5.9 Grand Cherokee. I saw one at SIR run 15.1 with 2 old fat guys sitting in it.

I raced a new grand cherokee v-8 on the way to the beach this summer. He was cruisin at like 65 when I made my move to pass him. He decided that I wasnt going to and he floored it. I did the same and he kept up with me neck and neck until about 105 when he quit and I finally overtook him. This was about three months from when I first bought my baby, and it was also the first time I felt like the TL let me down. I believe it was the same day however that I got to play follow the leader with an e420, a corvette, and boxster. In sportshift mode, the TL didnt do so shabby

dude the Jeep 5.9 limited is fast, but the TL will beat it!!! TL hits 0-60 in like 7.1 and the 5.9limited hits it in 7.4 i know! Anyways its always cool to run all over a V-8. My parents have a 1987 MB 560-SL and its only 225HP V-8, the TL will run all over it. Once the car hits 100 now itll start smokin cuz oil drips on the manifold! No way i can grease my moms new car though 2001 MB 500SL AMG package...ahhh so sweet black on black too. the car is so phat it has 6 memory seats for 2 people, go figure!

Wow,

I cant believe what I just read. I currently own a 02 TLS AGP. My best friend owns a 98 Grand Cherokee 5.9. We have raced many times (rolling starts . . dead stops . . etc) and I have yet to win. Before you go and challenge one of those (if you ever see one, only 4000 were made) be careful. They hit 0-60 in 6.8, and my friend has one (with a few small mods) that goes 6.3.

And yes, I have the TLS, but with his instant grip off the line with 4 wheel drive, and me only being a FWD, I cannot beat him.

All i'm saying is, dont say you can beat a 5.9 without trying it first.

my 2 cents
