Post Raising the Idle

I always thought my TL idled low. Sometimes at lights, my whole car shakes which should not happen at all. Also, when I start a warm engine, NOT ALL OF THE TIME, but about 75% of the time, the engine idles really low and again shakes. I want to know which of the two cables I have to adjust? Which one for idle and what does the other one do?

Thanks again,
the kid who asks a lot of questions

i think you should let your dealer adjust the throttle cables for you... let them handle it.

I agree with UW TL...

Are you sure it's the idle and not cheap gas? My TL did that when I used Mobil gas when I first bought the car. I changed to Sunoco 93/94 and never had the problem again.

Do you have a 2000 TL by any chance? That sounds like the problem people always have with the ECU computer bug...

I dont have a 2000 but Wayneg from Park Ave told me they are working on an upgrade for the 2000's and I might have a mild case of it. I just dont know when it is going to come out.

Acura3200, I always use good gas 93. The companies vary. I usually use Mobil, Exxon, and Amoco. I think I'll give Sunoco a try. The problem is there are not a lot of Sunocos around here so I don't use them.

Thanks

its not the cables you adjust, there is a valve on the throttle body i think. if you still want to do it, let me know and i'll "make an effort" to look it up it the helm

id let the dealer sweat over it

You cannot adjust the idle on any Acura TL. It is controlled by the engine computer. If your car is idling roughly or too low, have your dealer look at it. Any tampering may void your warranty.

What RPM does your car idle at?
You may want to try disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes. The ECU will then have to "relearn" the car.

Does anyone know of an easier way to reset the ECU then pulling the battery?
