Question Post Delivery Inspection?

A dealer I'm working with want to charge a Post Delivery Inspection of $280.00. Now is this the same thing as dealer prep fee? Because with the dealer prep - I heard the factory pays for that. Did you guys pay a Post delivery inspection fee - if so - how much?

Thanks

Post Delivery Inspection Fee? what the hell? that's b.s. I suggest you go to a different dealer. He's trying to yank your chain. Tell him to pay you $300 for bullshitting you.

Wow....that's pretty funny. Just for that I wouldn't buy my car there. When I buy a car, I don't want any BS!

You may want to verify the facts with the dealership before launching an assault. There is indeed a "pre-delivery inspection". In the Honda arena this is simply called "PDI". For Acura it is a "technical quality inspection", or "TQI". This typically pays 1.0 - 1.5 hours, depending on the model and features. In addition the dealer may be tacking on a prep fee. I'm assuming the fee you're being charged is the TQI plus the dealer prep (detail). Check it out and let us know what you find.

Post Delivery Inspection = PDI = Padding Dealer's Income.

Tell this dealer to drop the $280 or go elsewhere.

Remember to never accept a deal until you've seen ALL of the charges that will be incurred. If the price makes sense after you've added all the little "extras", then buy the car. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

"Padding the dealers income" isn't a very accurate statement. What is the total sale price including this mystery fee? New car sales aren't the proverbial "bread and butter" of a dealership. There is much more to be made on the service drive and on used cars (especially with the Preferred Pre-Owned Acura program).

Again, verify the facts. Explain that you know the manufacturer pays the claim for the TQI, so this should not be passed to the customer. If it's the charge for detailing, take the car wrapped in plastic.....like I did. I can wash and wax myself, and unlike the dealer I can keep the wax out of the crevices
