Radio codes

Radio codes
I have a 2003 TL-S and the radio code is missing, nothing inside the glove box or other easy-to-get-at suggestions in other postings about this missing radio code. All is well at the moment but there will come a time when I will need this code. This quote is from a question in the automotive section of the Feb 3/07 Toronto Star: "They will either pull the radio out and use the serial number, model number and reference number on the back to get the code from that manufacturer. Or, they will perform a special procedure to get the same info from the radio display and then obtain the code from the manufacturer."
It is the second suggestion that is new to me: "they will perform a special procedure to get the same info from the radio display and then obtain the code from the manufacturer". Anyone know what that procedure is? Sounds like the serial number or other pertenent data is accessible from the radio screen if you know the procedure. Interesting to say the least. JC

Sometimes you can get the codes from the dealerships.
Last week, I called the dealership where my 1999 TL was orignally purchased and they gave me the correct codes for both my radio and the navigation system. They just needed the car's VIN code.

I just had this problem solved yesterday. You turn on the car (radio is off), then press 1, 6 at the same time. Meanwhile, turn on the radio, you will hear the "B B" sound, then two set of number will show up. It should be sthg like (U xxxx , L xxxx). These are the radio serial number. Now, call the acura customer service and give them this number, and they will use their database to match and get your code. After you get your code, try it. If it doesn't take it or showing "error 1, error2"..then you use LacViet's method. It works perfect.

Thanks to all who took the time to respond so quickly. Is this a great forum with great people or what? As I stated in my original post, all is well but sure as hell there will come a time when this code will be needed. The suggestion of looking for data under the fuse panel in the engine compartment holds promise as does the one from djmato. We are in a bit of a deep freeze up here so I have no intention of going out into garage today. Besides, there are preps to be made for Super Bowl later today. What is more important I ask you. JC
