Radio Code Question

Every time I pull the battery, the radio will lock out until I enter the correct code. I have the code but regardless it will not unlock my radio until A.) I go deep under a parking garage or B.) I pull the antenna out of the back of the radio. I used the first method the last time but its a good 15 minute drive to get there. Am I missing another easier way than the two listed above?

Sometimes taking the "code" can be a PITA.
Ya could try getting an antenna jack extender from Radio Shack. That way removing the cable would be easier.

There's other ways to maintain power to the radio while the battery is pulled, but you'll have to do some searching to find the info.....sorry.

Unfortunately, Those are the 2 methods that work. How often are you pulling the battery that this is an issue?

Use 2 short antenna extensions so you can disconnect next time in a breeze.

This is how you do it.
- disconnect antenna cable
- turn the key to " II" ("I" (on) most of the time does not work.)
- enter code

Battery could be in the way when doing some works underneath or behind the battery; and disconnecting battery for safety in other works as precaution which is not unusual.

^ok but once you done you don't have to remove the battery anymore. something else is going on here because who removes the battery so often that this would be a big on going problem.

You can disconnect the wire going into the black box under the rear parcel shelf (thats the connection from the head unit to the antenna embedded in the rear glass)

That worked for me once, but the second time it did not. My dad suggested disconnecting that wire *and then grounding it to the car*, so actually get NO signal to the antenna. I havent tried that yet (I wasnt 100% sure it wouldnt fry something in the stereo)

I had to replace the terminal because whoever owned the car before me did a terrible job on replacing the original. I will just drive to a underground parking garage tomorrow and reset it there. I was hoping my terminal was the reason my trans pops out going into third. Its not an everyday issue but I guess Im going to take it to a transmission shop to see if its a solenoid or something else.

I had an issue with a bad terminal before. And when it would disconnect while driving my dash would light up light a Christmas tree, as soon as I put the terminal back and turn the car off and back on it would go back to normal.

I just go into a tunnel to get the code to work. Have someone punch in the code as you drive through. Always worked for me. Never dealt with the antenna or parking garages.
