radiator fan came on when putting key in "on" position

This has never happened to me before. Has anyone had this happen to him?

I believe the radiator fan comes on when the engine's hot whether or not the engine's running.

The cooling fan is controlled by a thermosensor in the radiator. At a certain temp the sensor will close and start the fan. If your car is hot, turning the key to "on" will energize the circuit and turn the fan on. Function by design.

I asked the Honda tech about this on my 92 Accord. He said if the AC is turned on, the condensor fan will run regardless of the temperature. Something about the rapid heat buildup due to AC action.

OT
