Racing a IS300

Has anyone raced a Lexus IS300? I have a stock 99 TL and would like to know before I race one if I have a chance.

Do you have mods to your TL that may have helped?

My brother had a IS300 and we raced alot when he was stock and I think the closest I have ever gotten in a race was a tie but he has handed me my ass by much more than that before stock the most I think was like 5-7 cars (stock) and with mods we never raced he would probably pull a solid 17 cars (his IS ran low 13's)

The reason I am asking is that a silver IS and I drive into to work in the traffic in the mornings. We see each other and go in and out of traffic - I have noticed he is always on my tail. I can't tell if he is stock or not. But one of these days we are going to meet. I just don't want my TL beat by a Toyota!!

your TL should be about tie with a stock IS300 in the straight way

NSX Pilot meant it is no problem with his TL type S

Don't let rwd, straight 6 intimidate you. IS can eat my shorts.

I have beaten IS with my stock 99 TL before. You should have no problems, just get a good launch.

Don't be scared of this post. Stock IS DO NOT run low 13s.

from the owner of both

IS 300 stock and 99 TL stock, I can say that IS300 feels faster with smoother acceleration (I wasn't even using Power button or E-Shift) and eats my 99 TL in curves. Maybe my TL is old 50k miles.

I raced my cousins IS300 wen my 2000 TL was still stock and beat him every time (3 different occasions). I didn't use SS and i don't think he used his E-shift. It was close tho, didn't win by more than a car length b4 we quit. o wellz, "doesn't matter if u win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning"

drag racing is not what the is300 is about

it is an entertaining car to take around corners!

I have taken IS300's off the line a few times. On the highway i was racing one, i was ahead, but a curve came up and i had to slow down while he just slingshot right by me.

Cornering

IS 300s are better at one thing...cornering. I don't know if anyone from the tri-state area is familiar with the Merritt Parkway which runs through CT. but every so often I run into a yellow Ima S**t 300 which always zig zags through cars going 5000 mph. One day I decided to chase after the sucker andate him on a straight away. The key is either slamming to low gears or gate shifting when starting at low speed or stopped. But be careful on corners, because our big ole Touring Luxury cars aren't as grippy on those turns as those little peckers. The SOb killed me once we hit a tight turn.
Be confident...but know your conditions.
