Aiight, my friend just bout an 03 Track Model Z in stick and so I know there was no chance I would beat him, but curiously I wanted to know how well my car would hold up against him, stock engine of course in both of our cars.

1. From a stop, I had him till exactly 90 mph, by 3/4 carlegnth. After that, his headlights turned into breaklights..lol.. as he raped past me and into the horizon!

Now, I know he is suppose to be a faster car in the 0-60 category, and he told me his car is suppose to do 5.4 secs vs. our 6.1secs, but as he's not a professional stick driver and its easier to race in our *****tronic transmission.

2. From 30mph we timed it and let go, and similar results, I kept up with him til about 90 mph, basically all of 2nd gear and almost all of 3rd gear. As I approach my redline in 3rd gear, thas when he rapes past me into the horizon. Once I shift to 4th gear, he makes my TLS look like a Civic.

We got our cars up to 120 mph and while we're doing this, a Sentra decides to attempt in keeping up with us..lol. Wait I shouldn't laugh, cuz it was a V-spec after all. But i mean after we stopped at 120 it was a good minute before we saw that Sentra get back with us again.

All in all, great fun we had, and even my friend was impressed that our TLS's kept up with him the way it did tonite. Impressed isn't the word, blown away by that fact, cuz he really thought, along with me, that he would just kiill me right from the get go. But that wasn't the case!! Haha!! Go TLS!!

that he would blow past you 90mph + I thought VTEC lived in the upper RPM range or do we just run out of torque?

90 is not close to the end of third in the tl-s... try 105, and by then if you keep it floored you'll be in the vtec fourth. Leave it there and 140 comes up quick.

don't u know our 4th and 5th gear suck ass?? haha

but i love the 3rd gear...it helped me to beat the 225hp 6spd Audi TT~!!!

the 1.8T engine is out of gas at high rpm while i got the VTEC working~

I have to disagree with ur last comment. 140 does not come quick man, or I should say quick enough to keep up with the Z. All I know is, while Im approachiing the 5500 RPM, with the gas floored, he either comes from half a car legnth behind and passes me like there is no tommorow. I thought that would be 90 mph, but maybe it closer to 100..very possible.

This shows you that no matter what you read in the magazines, out in the street is a different ball game.
I'm not surprise. I have one the other day next to me on a light and we took off (I can tell his was a 6spd because I can hear him going thru the gears), and not really pushing my car because he didn't pushed his, I think he was testing like he was not sure if he can take me or not but I kept my car right next to his like saying hey if you push you better be ready for whatever happens. So he kept his cool so I didn't get the chance to find out but I can tell that I can probably take him at least on the first 2 or 3 gears.
