Raced a Supercharged Pontiac Bonneville...you'd be surprised at the outcome.

My friend and I tonight went on an open street about 1km long, and decided to go at it. We both went into the race pretty much knowing the outcome (that I would take him). Well the race began like this...

0-40 km/h- he took the lead, but that's cause my tires absolutely suck, and all I did was slip off the line, he managed to grip much earlier then I did

40-80 km/h- he continued to stay ahead of me, since he was already in front from my ****ty ass take off, however I stayed steady with him. BTW the roads were very wet at this time. The rain had stopped, but the roads were horrible conditions. He has Michelin Rainforce on his car, so he gripped almost immediately.

80-160 km/h- right about at 80 km/h is when my VTEC starts to freakin roar, and for some reason his car doesn't feel powerful past 100 km/h. Anyhow by about the end of the race, I can safely say I was atleast 7-8 car lengths in front of him. When I asked whether he kept going full blast till the end he replied "I kept my foot to the metal until I saw your brake lights come on".

These cars are quite fast off the line, and don't plan on taking them if the race will end at 100 km/h. However, if you're willing to go as high as we did, then you will definitely smoke these guys.

BTW, he only reached about 138 km/h and I was at 157 km/h when I slowed down....just goes to show how fast our babies car go!!!

btw guys I ran with VSA on...and my engine actually cut out at the beginning of the race. I totally forgot to take VSA off, and after realizing I had it on, plently of cursing occurred as I was pulling up to pass him!!!

no worries, I had the car in SS mode.

how come though our cars aren't abl to take people right from the start. In all my experiences with racing, the guy is able to take me off the line, or keep head to head until about 80-100 km/h and then when my VTEC really kicks in, I fly by.

I always thought though our cars would smoke ppl right from 0 km/h.

any ideas?

How come you cannucks can't convert to MPH for the other 85% of this site???

You beat him by 8 car lengths to 60mph in a span of 342 yards? I dunno...

That's what a supercharger does, it gives immediate boost right off the line. But I bet his overall gas mileage isn't as good as yours.

That's because the supercharged Bonneville has lots and lots of torque (low end torque) even though not as much horsepower than our cars. Don't overlook all those big displacement or supercharged cars, the massive torque generated can overcome the small horsepower output, and they can run neck to neck with us.

Good kill!

When you can (safety first of course), always race til like 110-120 mph cause 4th gear will take forever.

Yea off the line we are not that quick cause honda does not equal torque.
