for once the motorweek had a comparison of M5, E55 and XKR

E55 is the fastest with 4.9
M5 is 5.1...

i am wondering the E55 would be slower if it has manual...that's mercede's tradition...

LOL... maybe... since SLK320 6-speed is slower than 5-speed auto... HAHA....

European Car Mags have clocked SLK32/C32 doing 0-60 in 4.5 sec... so, I have no doubt, C32 is the fastest factory 4DR for now...

And no, E39 M5 has V8 and LOSE to V6 S/C C32 AMG in terms of acceleration.....

C & D had a comparison between the M5, E55, and XJR (not xKr) and I seem to remember that the M5 was the fastest but that the others weren't within a few tenths, which according to all the car magazines (in their fine print) is not a significant difference.

So guess what -- they're all fast as hell!!

And by the way, my dad can beat up your dad.

My dad will kick your dad's ass in a fight any day of the week. And my dad can run faster than your dad too! And my dad would never, never race with me. He loves me too much to teach that its fun to drive dangerously.

hmm....MT has a 0-60 time for the M5 of 4.7 and the E55 AMG to have a time of 4.8. And since the M5 has a 6-speed manual tranny, I think it would be more fun to drive.

True... but again, the E55 next to you have a greater chance of dusting you since he got Auto in there..

yeah, clutch-slippage is always possible...with autos all you gotta do is mash the gas pedal. Still, given a choice just b/w the two, I'd chose the M5.

Quickness

Guys, I really like my car for what it is but racecars they are not. I like the off the line punch and top end is just fine, it's the middle of the range that needs help. Hey, you can't take all your friends to dinner in comfort in a Vette so this is a much better compromise!
