Post Raced a cop... for real!!

I was cruisin back home today from a jaunt to Montgomery doing about 80 in a 70, which is OK here in Bama. I get passed by a cop from a jurisdiction way North of Birmingham. I decided to let it go, but then I realize I'm doing about 95 and he's still pulling away. I didn't think it was right that he was flying without lights flashing. I call information to get the phone number to his home police department. As I was talking to some chick at his parent department, I'm telling her that I'm going 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120 and now I'm behind him. She asked for his description and license plate number. We got caught behind some traffic and he sees me on the phone so he tried to leave me. Not this time Bubba. I pulled on him like crazy, got beside him, pointed to my phone then at him and gave him a thumbs down. I hope his freaking badge gets yanked. What a dumbass. I can't believe that I had to police the police!!

BTW, this Type-S pulls much stronger than my 2000 TL did at over 100 mph!! 4th gear is way more usable!

Cool

Thanks for the informative info...

Now I have enough courage and confidence to rob a bank today and outrun the cops using my TLS. By tomorrow, I'll get another TLS, one for everyday of the week...muwahahaha!!!!

Just joking--I'm a law abiding citizen

By the way, what cop car was it? The crown vic? copstang? or the Z28?

.... and then you woke up.

I doubt this really happened. Who in thier right mind would chase a police officer to over 100 mph to inform him, via sign language, that he should not be speeding without lights on? GET REAL!

Talking

Actually, in California, any law enforcement vehicle needs to in a "Code 3" call before he can run a red light, drive in excessive speed, etc. Of course, the police car needs to have the siren on.

If the cop is doing all above things without getting a "Code 3" call. He is in trouble. And indeed you can have his license plate copy down, get the time, date, and place then file a complain.

but would you do double the speed limit to get his license to file a complaint. I sure would not. It would be a fast track to jail, immediate license suspension, insurance cost increase, etc.

I think if the story is real, that yes the police officer should be reprimanded as well as the guy chasing the officer. Both are foolish for driving recklessly on public highways.

Well not only is this story just dumb, but it's bringing down the intelligence of two TL forums. Wow, I did something really stupid... I want everyone to know! Too bad you didn't get pulled over.

Flame me if you want, but the whole story is stupid.

Let me get this straight. You were talking to the dispatch telling her that the cop was doing 120 and you were right on his tail..

WHATEVER!

Actually, in most states, if a cop is speeding without lights/siren you can follow him at whatever speed he is doing and they cannot pull you over.

Sweet Home Alabama!

Son, we southern men must stick together! Man, you have my respects for takin' on the Police Flyboy.

I'd hate to see you end up dead by the side of the road in one of those Fox Network Caught on Tape shows!

Have you ever read the Stroker Ace book? It is chock full of this kind of thing, including a hilarious rental car race between two stock car drivers, which was stolen and used in Days Of Thunder.

The whole point is that the cop was abusing his power. The municipality that he covers was about 100 miles away, and I'm sure he just wanted to get home for the weekend. There is no way he was responding to a call. In a hurry is no reason for him to speed like that! He accepted the job of being a police officer. Like politicians and soldiers, he is held to higher standards. I think it's pathetic that we, as a society, hold athletes to extremely high standards for personal conduct but let cops (and Bill Clinton, et al) slide when doing wrong. I was an officer on Active Duty and now in the National Guard, and we have to live by certain standards. If you commit adultery, you're busted. If you speed on post, it's a federal offense. There's no reason that cop should have done what he did. I don't condone what I did either, but I felt it had to be done for a reason. We need to set standards, adhere to them, and punish those that choose not to follow them. If it was an engineer or businessman, I wouldn't have cared. Remember in Top Gun when Maveric was told that he doesn't own the plane but the taxpayers do? It's the same deal here. If that cop can't handle living with the standards for police conduct, both on and off duty, then he should look for employment elsewhere. Integrity is being faced with a decision between right and wrong, but doing what's right even when no one is there to know the difference. His integrity was compromised and he should be busted. Period.

I think the story could be true, I have "raced" a cop doing 80 in 55. If it is true... COOL!
