Raced a BMW 528i

yesterday me and my gf and a few friend went to watch constantine and at the stop light a BMW 528i lined up next to me and him and his gf gave me a nod and wanted to race me. so I put the shift into SS mode and the light turned green i pressed pedal to the metal and he pulled a head of me a little bit. Then i'm near the end of rev limit on my 2nd gear and then shifted into 3rd gear and pulled a head of him since then.

My car had a full load (5 people)

528's are heavy and doesnt have that powerful of an engine.. its a 2.8L I-6.. i doubt he had a chance. especially since its an older model BMW it probably pushed around 160-180 hp.

the new model 525's and 530's push 184hp and 225hp respectively.. which means even the 530's will lose to a TL. just because we have the weight to power advantage. dont know about you having 5 people in the car effecting the race much, but shouldnt have been that hard nonetheless..

4 extra people could easily be an extra 600 pounds. That makes a huge difference.

ya those cars are sloooooow, but so is the TL with a full load, so what you said sounds about right. But if both of you were solo, even the TLP would smoke it.

Go into the twisties and see who would win. I'm sorry, our cars are great for the money, but don't compare a 5 to a TL-S, you can't.

that is also true.. they got the rear wheels spinnin them the advantage for fun corner driving. i hate the torque steer on our cars.. all this power but cant even use it on twisty roads..
obviously why our cars arent compared with bmw's.. the closest comparative would be the 330's.

bmw's are definitly built to have fun in, its not all about power sometimes..

Don't forget their 50/50 weight bias vs our 63/37 bias.

OH WOW! ours is that bad? did not even know.. no wonder i always slip on tough corners. it feels like my cars gonna topple at times too. i love the tl and everything, but we seriously need rear wheel drive cars for acura. or any car with slick steering (besides the S2000).. im loyal to honda/acura and i dont want to have to go to infiniti to get me a g35 sedan to have some fun!

yeah. the car definately feel front heavy, but in michigan it's pertty good cus of all the traction it provides to you on front wheels.
My friend got a bmw and one time 3 of us passengers jumped out of the car to push it out of a snowy slope, it was embrassing.
