race ?

my friend has a new rsx type s, so I'm wondering who would win in a straight line race from a stop light, before I challenge him.

if you have a tl-s. there's no doubt you will smoke him.
but if you have a tl-p. he will beat you but it should be a very close race.

type s

both stock, and yes I have an S. I am surprised, though, as I thought that he'd win with him being lighter and a manual tranny...

Drag race

I visited Acura meet at E-Town racetrack in NJ last November and if I am not mistaken a female RSX owner won the race. She did not get the fastest ET time but she reacted (RT time) very well. So unless you plan on going faster than 100 mph it will be a driver's race. Above 100 TL-S's power advantage should give you an edge.

0-60 the RSX Type S is even with the TL Type-S... After 60mph, the TL pulls away from 60-100mph. So depending on how far you race the RSX, you'll eventually win. Since the RSX is a manual, you'd have to have a driver that can launch real well and make sure all of his shifts were good. Otherwise, the 0-60 advantage would goto the TL-S.

However, the E-Town race in November wasn't a race for best time, it was a race against your own dial in. She came the closest to her dial-in each time and so she won. She could have been in a 20 second Honda Civic and just always finished consistently with 20 seconds and she would have won .. so that really doesn't mean anything in terms of speed.

Sorry, looks like I was wrong about E-Town. BTW I do not see any value in being consistent. If I live traction control ON on my car I get absolutely consistent (almost identical) results.

Um, you'll blow his doors off...The service guy at my dealer has an RSX Type-S with Comptech headers, exhaust, some sort of intake and coilovers/sways...His car is notably slower than my modded Type S, but I never played around with him stock for stock. I have done so with others with the same result of being noticably quicker. I will say I have ridden in his car and with that suspension set up (and he has 18's, that is tied as the second best handling car I have EVER ridden in. It is quick, sharp, direct and sticky as h=ll...Needs more guts to go with those manners, though...
