After seafoaming I really didnt take a long drive just revved the car in my apartment parking lot for 5 mins.

Also I changed all the plugs. IT really didnt tak that long for the rears. THe only problem I had was one of the plugs was broken and it was a bitch to get that out. OTher than that its alll good. Also My idle is still rough and I really didnt notice much of a differ with the new plugs.

Also lets say one of the plug isnt working? How would I know would the CEL come one?

After seafoam you MUST drive the car to super heat the solvent and carbon that is now loose and burn it off- blow it out.
If that pic was taken right after, that would explain the coloring
You still need to take it for a 4000 rpm run and use vtec several times- really get it worked thru.
Gets better with time too.

Kris said the IAC is right below the TB (maye part of it?) and is held on by 2 screws- Remove and clean- lightly lube with WD40 and reinstall.

I cleaned the IAC when I cleaned my EGR port. Idle is smoother. It was dirty. I'll be posting pics soon and my own experience in cleaning the EGR port. Wasn't hard to do and the car runs much better.

Yes you can take it off with a screw driver, but you might as well take the whole intake off with the TB attached and clean out the EGR ports and the iac really well. It wont take much longer to do it this way and you can properly clean the intake.

For the last 3 days I have been driving around our 1999 Suburban or the RSX. I have come to a conclusion that the chevy idles smoother than the TL, by far the RSX has the roughest idle.

V8 will idle smoother and v10 will idle smoother yet. They are inherently balanced better by design.

The TL should be pretty smooth. If you feel any thing it could be any number of things, from plugs to a sensor and a very likely cause- motor mounts.

When I go back home I plan to take apart the TB and clean everything... I hope its not the mounts because they have been replaced less than 5000 miles ago..

I did not know that larger the engine the smoother it idles...learned something new.

Hey Kris check it out. The Idle is not rough all the time, even when in drive at stand still. When the AC is on its a lil rough.

THen other times its rough regardless ac on or off.

When in neutral its smooth.

Hope this helps narrow something down.

Ok I ended up pulling it out of the car, look at the color now. It almost looks like seafoam but a lil thicker than seafoam.

Green? Looks like coolant. Is it coolant or oil? There should be No liquid in that. Period! Thats the resonator.

Aren't those the part numbers for NGK platinums? I thought OEM was iridium. I'm looking at NGK's website and see two iridium models for my type S (J32A2):

NGK Iridium plug 4095 IZFR6F-11 .044" SOHC $11.71
NGK IX iridium 6441 ZFR6FIX-11 .044" SOHC $6.95

Anyone know the difference between these two models or have used either of them?

I am running the NGK Iridium IX for 6something each from kragen
Many members are on one or the other- as long as NGK you're OK!
Kris prefers the Platinum, I am of the Iridium believers

OEM is NGK Iridium, is it not?

How do you like the NGK Iridium IXs, 01tl4tl? Do you know what the difference is between the two NGK Iridium offerings to warrant a $5 difference each?

I bought my TL-S last June, and I don't know if the previous owner ever did any maintenance on his own. I don't think so because I was the first to replace the in-cabin air filter a couple of months ago (man were they dirty!) There's 78k on the odometer and I read that Kris recommended changing them at 80k or so.

I saw your thread, but I didn't see what model. Where they the:

NGK Iridium IZFR6F-11

or the

NGK IX iridium ZFR6FIX-11

How many miles did you have on the odo before you changed plugs? Did you notice a difference in either power or gas mileage?

Yes I did notice a slight improvement in gas mileage after install of Iridium plugs
and butt dyno of better accelleration
OE plugs had 70 k miles on them, definite wear- still working bit not at FULL performance

with gas prices rising- plugs are cheap- so get the good ones!
