for 9.96 they have what is called OE he said they have 4 times more platnium than other plugs
Then the Iridium for 6.98, he said these are a lower level than OE but arnet these the ones everyone is using??/
SO what should I get???

Nothing is better.
a hour to a hour and a half for a novice. 30 min or less for someone who has done it before.

for teh rears get a old blanket or a big towel so that you can lay on the engine to access teh rears easier

im on the heavy side as well
took me about 30 min to do it....the rears are a bitch....especially the one right under the strut bar
Its on the LEFT if you are facing the engine from the front of the car...use an extension for those ones....good luck!

make a 9 inch extension for the socket to do the rears- fits perfect
The NGK is the best brand for our cars and last longest
you wont want to do this job again for a long time!
MANY of us use the new hi tech metal- IRIDIUM- 7 bucks each
some stay with older technology= Platinum
personal choice
Do not gap or touch the plugs except to put a little anti sieze on the threads

nothing specific. All you need is a allen wrench to remove teh coil pack and to remove the plastic engine covers. (type-s owners it helps to remove teh 2nd stage actuator)

YES very important
Lefty loosie
Righty tighty
Thats as you look directly at them
Use a torque wrench or carefully install by feel to makers spec

Another DIY just for preventative maitenance!!!
My problem is: one neighbor comes over every time I have the hood up and says "why are you working on that brand new car!" (its a 2001-clean) and the other neighbor comes over with metal polish and buffs out my intake manifold! While it is looking pretty cool......lol
its funny that my TL has become the focal point on a block with a Lotus and MBz and Bmrs and motorhomes and boats etc.
Just my plain jane stealth TL
suckering tailgaters way too deep into a corner heheheh
Some cars turn about as well as a jet-boat

So I got bored and did the front 3 plugs. It only took about 10mins. I guess the rears must be a big big bitch then... BUT look at the pics of the old ones. I dipped the other one in seafoam just to see how well it will break down the carbon. The pic is big so u can see the details of a dirty ass sparkplug with 95k miles.

Do you have any issue with oil burning/consumption
My plugs were greyish like they are supposed to be, except the center plug on each side was slightly darker
Those look wet!

If your not using any oil- I am just an alarmist- sorry
Check the engine oil now and then between changes.
Pics can be deceptive
Did you do the 20 minute high rev drive after seafoam?
Pull a front plug in 1000 miles and check its color
Why front? - because their easy to reach!

Yes rears can be accessed without much trouble. Just need to lay over the motor

Those plugs look fine. They just look old.
Change out all 6, the rears arent any harder, just takes a bit more time cause of having to reach over the motor.

yes many threads with pics search EGR
Its just bolts and 3 cans of carb cleaner
May want to install a thermoblock spacer while you have it all apart
Thanks Kris- I thought they may be just really old but always want the owners to keep a close eye on their car. My plugs looked different- but the prior owner may have had them replaced at the dealer early.
