Exclamation Quick K&n Drop In Filter Question

I just got my K&N drop in filter and was installing it only to find that the damn cover won't close properly with it in. The notches located near the engine won't fit correctly and therfore not allow for the screws to line up properly ..... yes I got the correct filter .... any assistance will be greatly appreciated .... please don't tell me to go CAI, etc ...... that's a little later on but for now this is all the wallet can handle ...

THANKS!

I had the same issue, I was able to get the cover close with additional force.
It seems that the rubber lip around the filter makes for a really tight seal, and you need force the tabs in first, then really push hard to get it to close.
Took me about 15 minutes to finally get it.

There are two kinds....I believe the 33-2133 is for Type S and 33-2121 is for regular TL. Make sure you get the RIGHT one...Mine fit perfectly without any forcing. If you have to do any forcing, you probably got the wrong one. I think those are the correct # but make sure you check with K&N website before purchasing.

Sup,

I believe you should clean your filter at least once on every oil change. Even though I have the comptech filter I think the same rule should apply.

you only need to oil a k&n air filter on each oil change. you need to clean it evey 50 thousand miles. The filter works better dirty

I just installed my K&N today. 33-2133 fits TL-P perfectly. Just make sure the tabs are aligned with the 4 screws, and remember to reset your ECU afterwards

Why should you reset the ECU after changing the stock filter to the K&N filter?

K&N filters give you better air flow rate. If you reset the ECU, it can learn how to coup with the additional air. You don't have to do it, but it might help take advantage of the new filter. You'll want to reset your ECU when you get a CAI, same idea

Ok guys, how much of a kick are we talking on the k&n drop in filter on the car and this cai. What is the cai and also to reset the computer, is that just leaving the car unplugged for like a hour or so, is that what you mean by that?
