Quick Advice on purchase of an 02 Premium
Hi all,
I currently drive a 2000 premium and have been offered a great deal on a 2002 premium. I'm very interested as it has fewer miles and is a better color combination.
My questions are these:
1) consumer reports gives the 2002 the lowest tranny scores. Were there fundamental tranny differences in the 02 or ?? In other words, is there more reason to be concerned about tranny in an 02?
2) The vehicle was from New York. Should I be concerned about very minor corrosion under the hood?
3) this vehicle has the ULEV engine rating. Any performance issues with the improved emissions?
Thanks for your help!

I have a 02 TL-p with 66K on orig. tranny (knock on wood) ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
In regards to the emissions question, my purge control solenoid ticks real loud need to replace it I think.

I'd have to side with 03coupeV6 on this one. I started on my 3rd tranny at 88k miles. I understand you'd be getting a low miles car, and I suppose if you are covered by the 100k/7year warrranty then it might be ok, but the car took a pretty bad depreciation hit so keep that in mind on the flip side when you go to sell it. True you are only shelling out $200, but dont forget about the sales tax.

Don't.
But that's just my experience with my 02 TL-P. What a nightmare it has turned out to be.![Mad](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

I hate mine now. I loved it to start with. It's on it's original transmission but it's dying slowly, and it has SO MANY SMALL ISSUES! I could write a book! And it drives like it has 3x the miles it actually does. My friend's 98 Camry drives, rides, and in general feels a lot better than my car despite having 120k miles and it pisses me off!
