Questions about replacing door speakers

I have a 2001 tl and I want to replace the door speakers bc I got an aftermarket HU and sub. I was thinking about going with component type r's and i have an Xtant 604x amp to power the speakers. How are the factory speakers wired and what do I need to do to bypass the factory amp going to the speakers? Also do 6.5" fit good? any help or insight into replacing the door speakers would be great

thanks

There is no amp for the speakers. Its built into the HU. The speakers are wired out of the HU into the EQ, back into the HU for amping out to the speakers. If you do any thing bypass the EQ. Try hooking every thing up to see if the sound is to bright for you if your using the stock HU, if you upgrade to a aftermarket HU installing it automatically bypasses it.

You will need to run new speaker wire from your amp to each door speaker.

and all of the wires to install and power the amp. the 6.5 will fit good. I have type s coax in the back doors you just need to slightly mod the factory plastic cup for it to fit along with the supplied mounting bracket.

you will need to run new wires, for my JLaudio components i used some 1/2 inch spacers and cut the speaker openings. i didnt mount the crossovers in the door b/c i didnt want them to get messed up from moisture that can build up in the doors. mount the tweeter close to the woofers and it should sound nice.
