Questions about dropping the Type S

I just wanted an opinion on this. I am planning to drop my car but don't know what springs to buy. I want to ride on my stock wheels for a little bit but, I do plan to buy 19" wheels later. So my delimma is how low should I drop my car and with that said in mind, what kind of springs will give me the best overall ride? I want to be able to have a nice look with my stock wheels but when the time comes to buy 19" wheels, will that drop cause major rubbing. Will a 1.9 drop cause 19" wheels to rub or is just better to go for like a 1.5 drop? Please help me out here. Thanks!

sounds to me your answer lies in coilovers. you obviously arent concerned too much about price if you were even considering 19s. regular springs are for those who dont really want to spend anything more than 300 bucks, but for 100 more, you have your answers right there.

I think your best bet would be Comptech springs. The drop isn't drastic...about 1.25" up front and 1" in the rear. It sit perfect with the stock wheels and will definitely look hot with 19's. To boot you won't need to change the stock shocks maintaining a comfortable ride.

Can you give a short description of the difference between coilovers and shock/spring's that are stock on our car?
Thanks

coilovers incorporate the shock and spring into one unit. they can be individually adjusted for stiffness and for height. pretty expensive too, snook sells the Endless/Zeal ones, ranging from 1300-2000+.

Coilovers are nothing more than adjustable springs. If you want a higher ride during winter, all you have to do is adjust the height of each spring and you're set. regular springs (like our stocks) arent adjustable at all, so someone who goes around asking about various drops and is uncertain because he/she thinks its too much or not enough, should just get coilovers so that they could adjust the height to what they want. Tims sells the Ground Control Coilovers for 380. so for 80 bucks more than the comptechs, you have a completely adjustable ride.

the main point to keep in mind when you upgrade your wheels is to keeping the new rolling diameter the same as (or as close to as possible) stock. this means the gap you have now with the stock setup is probably gonna be the same when you get 19s. so measure the gap and decide how low you want to go. the key to less rubbing is getting the right wheel offset first and foremost...then making sure you don't go too wide on the rim width and tire width. note, if you slam you ride then there is probably not much you can do about rubbing...the tire and fender are so close together that any bumps in the road will cause the tires to deflect upwards towards the fender.
