Post question on TL-S headlight features

Hello all - I am still shopping for my TL-S with Nav and am wondering the following:

1. Do the TL-S headlamps automatically come on when a certain level of darkness sets in or do you have to manually turn them on?

2. Do the lights have a delay setting when you get stop the car? In other words, say I park the car at night and lock it with the remote, will the lights remain on for a period of time afterwards? If so, can you set the period of time?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You have to turn them on manually... but if you read my next response you'll learn how to make them "automatic."

2. Do the lights have a delay setting when you get stop the car? In other words, say I park the car at night and lock it with the remote, will the lights remain on for a period of time afterwards? If so, can you set the period of time?
The lights will stay on for about 30 seconds after you get out of the car and then shut off automatically as long as you shut the car off BEFORE you open the driver's door.
(As far as I know this length of time is not adjustable) If you do this you'll notice that the next time you hit UNLOCK on the remote (or use the key then open the driver's door) that the headlights will turn back on, hence Acura's claim of "automatic" headlights.

Hope this helped

1. The headlights do not automatically sense the darkness level. Therefore, you must manually turn them on.

2. The headlights do have an automatic lighting off feature, that turns the headlights, and all other exterior lights off within 15 seconds of removing the key from the ignition switch and closing the driver's door. Additionally, if you leave the headlights on, and the key from the ignition switch, but do not open the door (i.e. to get out or whatever), the lights will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. Another feature, is that after utilizing the automatic lighting off feature, and unlock or open the driver's door, the headlights will automatically turn on again. An lastly, if you unlock the door, but do not open it within 15 seconds, the lights will turn off automatically.

Thanks for the info!! One last thing - so basically, you are turning the headlights on once and leaving them on when you exit and then re-enter the vehicle? And if so, I am assuming the only time you would turn the switch off would be during the day??

Thanks

I leave my headlights on all the time. It's safer even during the day, and I think it's a little intimidating when you get on someone's tail who's doing 60 in the fast lane - they get out of the way quick.

Also, I like how the car lights up when I am walking towards it and hit the unlock on the remote at night. Especially at work, since we have a dark parking lot and the office is not in the best part of town.

Outdoornut, for me it just depends on whether or not I want to use the Automatic Lighting Off Feature. Obviously, this feature will draw from the battery, so you have to keep this in mind as well.

Ialso drive with my lights on during the daytime. When I purchased my TL over a year ago I turned them on when I picked up the car. After a year of use all bulbs are still working. I did not like the fact that US. model Acura car did not have DRL.I just turn them on each time I start the car so no drain is on the battery. The feature we have is auto-off headlights its helpful you don't have to wonder if your lights are on after you leave the car.
