Question for TIM

Tim,

First I want to thank you for hosting this site. My number of posts attests to the amount of time I spend on this board and I think the information gathered here is invaluable for any car owner, especially an Acura man like myself.

I think I speak for many on the board when I say I miss the Off Topic area. The topics were fun, the responses hilarious and the sense of community is an oasis with respect to the other newsgroups out there- they are virtual wastelands, in my opinion.

That being said, what I want to know is- How much to get the Off Topic back on line? Personally, I think we can live without the PM's. If a person is interested in communicating with others he can leave his email in his profile. Likewise for the search, which is useful but obviously eats up bandwith because of the amount of data out there. But the OT... that's just good stuff! How much is the marginal increase in price to keep that going? Let's get that show back on the road!!!

Here's the thing. Only paying members can VIEW the profiles. whoever hasn't paid can't even view the profiles..nor edit THEIR OWN profiles. and only paying members get to use PM. I personally don't really care for O-T. I barely even visit it.

Don't want to start a flaming type thread here but if you didn't want others to post replies then you should have e-mailed Tim instead of posting it on the forum. However since you did I will add my .02 as well. The search is the ONLY thing I miss and without at least a basic version of it available to all, the other Acura/TL web sites are becoming much more attractive alternatives to this site. OT was sometimes pretty entertaining but didn't seem to have many redeeming qualities. It along with the post counts just seemed to encourage post whoring.

i think what Laurelcrest is trying to do is to get more people like himself who wants to get off topic back a chance to let tim know what can they do to get it back thats all.

A comment...

People take a look at what you are posting, talk about wasting bandwith. Some guy makes the same post in TL Discussion and TL Type S forums, why? Those threads would be deleted ASAP if it was up to me. And then I hear people complain why this is closed and why that is closed....well because you post CRAP and it takes up room.

Now that Laurelcrest's question is answered this thread should be locked so that I don't get a post below me saying something like "Shut up, this is a forum we can express our opinions" Well to avoid that, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone particular. All I'm asking is so that you people read over what you typed before you press the "Submit Reply" button.

Thanks for putting the off-topic back on. I think it nicely compliments this site.
