From some other posts people have done, the speaker brake light is disabled becuse you have to take the connector and use it to go to the spoiler.

If you want both lights to work, you'll have to splice that connector to go to both lights.

I think Nate has done this, so you might want to ask him about it.

The dealer disabled the brake light near my sub-woofer. I never asked why, but I prefer only the spoiler light vs. both.

Edub is absolutely correct. To make the light work on the spoiler you have to disconnect the 3rd brake light, the from the harness. You could, if you wanted to, splice in another connector, but I think it would look stupid.

I had my tint guy tint right over the third brake light so you really don't even know it's there.

The factory instructions call for disabling the stock light. I saw one the other day with both lights hooked up. The stock one looked orange compared to the bright red of the LED's in the spoiler. It looked tacky to me.

Yep, EDub is right... I have both working (installed the spoiler from Tim myself). Actually, I just stuck the wires in the rear brake light plug, I haven't actually spliced them (though I have the connectors in my glove box! ). Funny thing is the spoiler was one of my first mods and I've had wires dangling ever since!

Personally I think having both lights working looks kinda cheesy but I guess it helps the truck drivers when your under the field of vision.

I think you can connect it back on if you wish... but personally that's too many lights for me. I got the dealer installed stock spoiler also and they disconnected my rear deck brake light, thank god!

Thumbs down

having both lights is just plain retarded. it looks horrible! I also had my tint guy go right over the 3rd brake light so u can't even see it...just the spoiler lights up. I see lots of cars with both and it does look very tacky.....but then again...thats just my .02

Can you post a pic of the tint over the light? I can't seem to picture it in my head.

Do you already have tint on your car?

My inspire wing calls for the 2 wires from high mount stop light. It also came with a piece fo black plastic that perectly covers the red reflector behind the sub.

Question Question for those with dealer-installed spoiler

My '99 has a dealer-installed spoiler, and someone pointed out to me the other day that, of the two center-mount brake lights on my car (the one in the back window and the one on the spoiler), only the one on the spoiler lights up.

So, when a dealer-installed spoiler is added, does that disable the brake light in the back window, or is the bulb just blown?

It depends on your states DMV laws. Here in NJ, we are required to disable the rear deck light if the spoiler has a light- only one light in the rear center at a time is allowed. I suspect your state is the same.

Alright, I wedged something between the drivers seat and brake pedal and looked. Looks good to me! Seems like no big difference, I find it funny so many people feel it looks so bad.

Before I splice the wires to hook up the LEDs properly I'm going to try it without the rear light and see how it looks and if the LEDs shine any brighter.

The dealer will disconnect the high mount third brake light if you have fatory spoiler.
This was done on my 90 Accord with factory spoiler & my 94 Accord with spoiler as well as the TL. Most of the cars that have both lights are people that have not had them installed by dealer. They also may have reconnected the light themself.
