Question Question regarding AC.

How do you get the air conditioner to just blow in the air from outside without having to cool or heat it? On cool days, I don't want to have the compressor kick in. I just want the air to be blown in "as is" from outside. Can we do this (besides rolling down the windows and opening moon-roof )) Anybody know?

Thanks,
Peter.

I think he means he wants outside air not recirculated air...it's outside air if you don't press the recirc button...

As far as setting it neutral temp... there is no such thing..it depends on the temp outside and the temp u set it to, then it will either blow cold or hot air...or just open the windows

If you want the A/C to blow only fresh and unheated outside air:
  • Turn off A/C
  • Turn off recirculation
  • Set temperature below the outside air temperature
  • Set fan speed

You know one thing I didn't like about the TL is when you want to turn on just the fan without turning on the AC compressor, you have to put the dial on 90, press auto so the Compressor doesnt turn on, then turn the AC off, and then puuuuut it to your desired temperature. It would have been convenient if they had an econ button no?

How about just selecting the temperature and fan speed, then turning the AC off?

I used to do that but then you are turning the AC compressor on, and off very quickly. I don't think that can be good for the compressor.

Well, on american rentals, I can never find a the recirculating button so that I don't have to breathe some diesel trucks sometiems. Do american cars have a recirculating button?

Most American cars don't have a button dedicated to recirculating air like the imports. However, they usually have a setting for MAX Air Conditioning which changes the air inlet damper to recirculate the interior air. On some GM's the symbol for that looks like a circle comprised of three overlapping arrows. Ford has the MAX Air selection if I remember correctly. I forget what Chrysler has. Hey, just check your owner's manual.
