Question for people with CAIs

How often do you replace the filters? Over time do you think it would be costly in the future? Would a heatshield/splash guard help make the filters last longer? Reason why I'm asking is that I just bought the Injen CAI out of impulse and I wasnt even sure how long the cone filters last, or what I'm up against when it come time to install it myself.

Most CAI's come with a K&N conical filter, which is backed by a million mile warranty. You'll never need to replace the filter. The only maintenance involved will be removing it for cleaning. The interval for cleaning is a matter of preference. I typically clean mine twice per year.

The installation of the CAI isn't difficult. All it requires is basic hand tools and a little patience.

a million mile warranty? wow, thats amazing. if thats the case, then why do people buy spare filters if it should last them the length of the car? Are they just to lazy to clean it? if thats the case, I'll just buy a new replacement one every year.

Dumb question...

I assume that when you refer to CAI, you are talking about Cold Air Injectors??? If so, can someone give a brief description of how they work? If not, then, never mind...

CAI = Cold Air Intake.
There are 2 popular ones that are made for our cars, one made by AEM and the other one made by Injen.
